I would visit both and then decide.
But personally, I rank Davis higher than SB by miles.

between sb and davis, i'd go with davis. UCSB has the nickname of UCSTD! 1 in 3 girls there has an STD or something like that.. >_<
The chancellor from SB is really nice and caring though! The staff seem really really dedicated too, but I think it depends on which college within the university you get into.
go to sb if you want to do business, go to davis if you want to biology or be a doctor

Wow.. why should't UCSB be consider a U.C? That is the most stupidest comment I have ever heard. (sorry if that sounds harsh but its true)
...UCSB is a good school.. (even though our party reputation precedes everything else)
There are are a lot of good programs at UCSB.. physics, marine biology, business economics, College creative studies,
environmental studies, and etc
Granted we're not Berkeley or UCLA but we do have good programs

I ll be going to UCSB next fall and i just gotta say, UCSTD? thats stupid. its not like we ll be going to bang everyone in town.
I ve visited the both campuses and i gotta say UCSB IS SO BEAUTIFUL while UCD is just like....bikes.....and bikes....granted that upside down egg head was cooool.
SO, bottom line, it depends on what you wanna major in because both are good schools. UCSB is ranked 44 in the nation and iono about Davis

I got into both UCD and UCSB and I'm really considering going to UCSB.
My teacher used to live close to Davis and he's like, "when you want to play, what you do is bring your friends over to your room and talk."
I asked around people who graduated there but they said it's a really boring campus.
I know UCD is ranked 42, and UCSB is 44. There's not much difference but I think going to UCSB and being happy is a better choice.
I looked for photos of UCD in google but really could not find any campus pictures. I guess its because their campus isnt that pretty and it would actually detract students from coming-_-;;
Anyways, if you come to ucsb, you can meet me there haha.

If you're really stuck between the two, be sure to look into which school is best for the major you are planning on pursuing. If each school is 50-50 in your book but Davis has a top 25 school ranking in business (which I don't think it does, but it's an example

Dutton Hall (financial/workshop etc. directory)
[Back of] Mrak Hall (Chancellor)
^Another one
[Back of] Mrak Hall, side of Shields Library
My dorm view. (Tercero Dining Commons)
One of the new dorms where freshmens live, including me (Kearney)
Yes, bike country. (Front of Memorial Union [MU]~ huge hangout spot for student body.+bookstore etc.)
Right in front of the MU is the Quad
..^which is across from Dutton Hall
Anyway, i love the peace and quiet on weekends.
But, you kind of have to do some research for events/concerts happening nearby.
Students are always downtown on the weekends~ there are a lot of mini-shops.
It's a pretty traditional town-- college town, really. =)
Weather has been pretty nice lately. But.. windy a lot. And when it rains, ew.
You need to be extra-careful when it rains b/c ppl biking just don't care. (I suggest walking when it rains)
But on sunny days, it's just heaven. =PP
You'll have to get used to biking if you want to travel in Davis.
But if you don't want to, there's the student-run unitrans system.
Basically like a city bus, but w/in the campus [and outskirts of campus]. And they're usually always on time.
But, which ever one you pick, i hope you choose the right one for you that you like.
College is a meaningful step in your life. =) Congrats and good luck!!^^
Hopefully that helped a bit. I hear Santa Barbara is very beautiful, but you should consider what's within the school's curricular and the programs they have that might interest you. I know UCD has many many majors/programs to choose from in comparison to other schools. Congrats and good luck!^^
