ok so i signed up for Bannockburn for next year, but now everyone's telling me that it's ugly inside and it's ghetto.
can someone confirm this ? lol ><

Trust me... it's really bad. I have a friend who lives in Bannockburn, and the inside is tiny and dark. And his room is all the way in the back of the apartment and it doesn't even have a door, and there's just a small sink and shower outside of that. I wouldn't be comfortable living there at all. You want to be able to go home to someplace in which you feel comfortable, you know?

Hi! I'm Lorie and I'm on my sister's account (:
I should make my own~ haha.

ANYWAYS.

Do you guys like it /love it /hate it at UCR?
Pros/cons? Is it easy to make friends? What type of people are there? (:

Sorry if my questions seem a bit naive~
I lived 6+ hours away from UCR, but right now I'm deciding between a pretty good cc 10 minutes away from where I live or UCR. n__n;
I didn't apply anywhere else

It's meh for me. Pros/Cons, hmm. It really depends on your major, I guess. UCR is still a UC, it has the professor and opprtunity that are associated with being an UC, despite, its lack luster reputation. Other than that, its pretty rather infelicitous ass location, if you don't have a car, well, your going to bored out of mind. People....hmm.. different types, but they all seem pretty chill. And making friends, that up to, I'll be your friend lol?

I'd say if you don't want to waste any time, just go to UCR. Otherwise, if you want enjoy college, I guess, or want ambience or have a school you want to go to, go to CCs.

1) I wouldn't say its worth, its a nice place, if you have a room to yourself, it definitely roomy. But, imo, better than Glen Mor.
2) Pro's for on campus:
More lenient management and billing office, no need to deal with 3rd party companies for cable, electircity, water, trash, and umm closer to the campus.
Pro's for off campus:
Cheaper than on campus, More selection in chooses, and uhm pie.

Did anyone take Stat 48 - Statistics for Business? Who was your teacher? Was the class easy or hard? Do we need the book?

Also where is the business adviser located at? I heard they moved to some new building?

Oh no, not Bannockburn! I've heard many things about that place and they're all bad. For one thing, I have a friend who is living with three other individuals. If you like privacy, this is NOT the place for you. All four of them sleep in one room, ONE room! But hey, at least it's not as bad as Falkirk.

Other than that, hi, it's nice to meet you! I'm a first year at UCR and boy, my experience here is amazingly different compared to my home back up in norcal. I highly recommend you to attend a Bear Facts Orientation. They're extremely helpful and it's one of the easiest way to meet people. You get to learn things about the campus, where things are and etc. Plus, you should pick an early date. Early date = 1st choices on class.

BRING an umbrella! People told me Riverside was a desert and I didn't think of bringing one. So, I'm soaked when I walk to class.

I entered UCR as a biological sciences major but I am not undeclared in CHASS (college of humanities and social sciences). If you did well in chem and bio in high school, stay with a science major. If not, then boy, you should really rethink about your major! I made a huge mistake since I'm terrible in chem and now my grades aren't so pretty this quarter.

In my opinion, one of the best apartments is the UVT (University Village Tower). When I applied for a dorm, UCR didn't have room so they placed me there. You pay a little more, but it's worth it! You have your own room, your own bathroom and the place is furnished. The only thing you really need to bring is toiletries, a lamp, an e-thernet cord and voila, you're pretty much set. We have a movie room (has a huge screen & surround sound), swimming pool, gym, grill area and even a tanning dome. Oops, I also forgot to mention the game room (if you like video games). It's right next to University Plaza so if you're hungry, you can eat either pho, teriyaki chicken, frozen yogurt, etc. If you're not a big walker, you can take a trolley (a 2 minute walk from UVT) and it'll take you to the UCR campus.

Oh goodness, I would say so much more about UCR but I'm afraid I might fill up this page. If you have any questions, just PM me! If you want, I can give you a tour around campus next year. I'm willing to make new friends at UCR. :]

I took Stats 48. My teacher doesnt teach here anymore. For my class, no books was needed she provided a reader and all you had to do was go to class and fill it in. SHe also allowed cheat sheets. For stats you get to have cheat sheets, but dont know about the new teacher sorry

I wouldn't live with any UCR related areas. They are not worth it, Overpriced and looks like crap. Look for someone not owned by UCR. I live off campus with a private apt and I LOVE it. Plus, I hate when ppl party and stuff so it's a great place. If you dont mind the noise level and drunk ppl walking around, than go for it. Hope that help!

i go to UCR right now & i really do not like it here sad.gif

i just got here in september '08 too. i'm planning to drop out & go to mt. sac (community college) in walnut, CA because i really feel like i can't stand it here..

i'm dorming at east lothian which is pretty nice. smile.gif

if you do decide to come here, i recommend that you sign up early for dorming & pick east lothian. i think it's the newest residential hall, so it's pretty nice.

as for the food.. i don't think the meals are all that great.

hmm.. i think i could answer some questions.. but i'm still a freshman here so i don't know too much yet.
i also don't know if i should stay at this school..

it's pretty boring here, so if you do come to riverside, remember to join clubs!! smile.gif

i completely agree. i went to check out apartments for next school year, & bannockburn is like.. not even a shack!
it seriously looks like it was built in the 1200's & the wood is all falling apart.
the bathroom & sink is absolutely ridiculous too!
you wouldn't understand unless you go in and see for yourself..

i don't consider it to be "live-able" sad.gif
i hope i'm just picky..

i chose to live at falkirk for fall '09 if i continue to go to riverside. i think it's decent and affordable.. of course not the best. but i think i'll be able to survive smile.gif

^ ah you guys are making me quite nervous about bannockburn ><
by the way i got the single room, and its $860 a month so it's not that cheap, so i'm hoping everything's alright (since i'm not that picky, or at least i don't think so but then again i haven't seen it myself) . i seriously just chose it b/c it was closest to school, since i don't like walking far in the crazy hot sun!

anyone who's living in bannockburn have pics or anything? unsure.gif

860 for urself? 860 is 860 overpriced. that place as thin walls. it looks like it's fall apart. my friend lived there and she can hear the guys upstairs peeing. how gross is that? u should've lived at the fallkirk. it's school owned and its literally one more minute to walk there. u live on campus right now right? seriously jus walk to INTS and if u see the blue buildings that's it. u cant miss it. u should've checked it out before u moved in. u will regret it.

FALKIRK is worse than bannockburn??? I'm looking to live in an on-campus apt but don't know which to choose. I want a single room that is no more than $780. Any opinions?? I also hear each complex has 24/7 R.A. (resident assistants) -- is this true? Are they strict about visitors? I'm transferring to UCR Fall'09 - open to meeting anyone and receiving any advice. I've been trying to find pics of bannockburn and the plaza....

=) Please let me know if you can provide me any info... thanks!!

Hmm..also..does anyone know if utilities are included with rent at Falkirk? or is there a limit...and they begin charging you if you surpass the limit? I've asked the Housing Directors and even THEY aren't sure. They say to check the internet but they're not 100% sure....

I'd appreciate ANY info about Falkirk and Bannockburns "Plaza" apartments!! smile.gif Feel free to PM me or add me on Facebook

ahh this is my third post in a row.

whats the diff between bearFACTS orientation and bearTRACKS transfer orientation? i read online that bearFACTS is for transfers too..but they seem completely similar other than the fact that beartracks is solely for transfers..

i've noticed all the dates for bearfacts orientations are around july -- early registration is offered
and in bearTRACKS transition program.. the dates fall around sept--for early registratoin..how is sept considered EARLY registration if people are already registering in JULY through bearFacts?

why did they make two programs if they're alike.. and why is there a big jump from july to sept..?

^ by a single room, do you mean like 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom? or do you want roomates, but still have your own room just that the apartments will have like 2, 3, or 4 rooms total?

if you mean the 1bathroom, 1 bedroom (meaning absolutely no roomates) then for bannockburn it's $860, for falkirk $900. but if you do want roomates (friends, or random assignments) then it'll be a lot cheaper depending on how many roomates you want. for bannockburn utilities are included.

i think u should go to beartracks b/c i believe at bearfacts it was mostly for freshman. so then u don't have to worry about the registration for class times being different since most freshmans take the beginning courses for their major. and since you're transfer you should have already taken those classes so you'll be signing up for higher level classes, no? so if you sign up for the higher level classes, then it'll be considered as EARLY.
