As for the housing thing, I have no idea either about the only being able to put first choice thing. It wasn't like that last year. I think perhaps it has to do with the fact that UCR once again, accepted a buttload of applicants this year. Supposedly UCR accepted the most students out of all the UC's for C/O 09 (but then again, hasn't it always been like that?) So I'm assuming spaces are extremely limited? Or worst case, the application has some error.

When the sign up for exam section and I get the note:
*Note: The exams listed on this form are only for current students. Incoming Freshman should not register for these exams.
Uhh...so how exactly do I register for the test?

I got just a few more days to make up my mind for college. And I really need some questions answered 'cause I'm nervous.
I'm Asian. "Really" asian, as some of my friends say. I love Asian food, music, yada yada. I can adapt almost anything/any place, but then again, I've never visited the campus for Riverside yet and I like clean air and stuff that doesn't make my allergies go crazy and a clean campus and convenient supermarkets to go grab some cold mulnaengmyun and other good food. I think I'm used to Norcal weather? I don't like to go out in the sun much and I don't like getting tanned--I get tanned and sunburned within just a small period of time and I am cursed with getting tanlines T_T I get nosebleeds if it gets too hot. I like to see snow, but it's okay if I don't, as long as I get some good rain or cool winds sometimes. I'm not a big fan of beaches--the whole sun, crowd, swimming isn't my thing. I don't know how to swim, but I still don't like to touch water on my spare time. lol. I like showers though. I don't like Disneyland but I do like mountains and hiking and adventurous stuff. I like guys--Asian and French guys to be exact. LOL. I like wonderful teachers and friendly people to help me "find myself". I would like to experience the dorms but I'm a bit territorial when it comes to strangers =/ but I am really open and understanding and willing to work things out. I really do love people, it's just the thought of the differences between two new people that worries me. I really like something similar to the Berkeley campus and atmosphere, but I want to go far away.
So those who have experience with the UCR campus and life, do you think I will fit in well or find the place to be likable? I'm not going to be able to visit it until orientation =/ (btw, I got accepted into the Psychology major thing)
Btw, my friend who got accepted in UCR got a 'D' in her APCalculus class and looks like she'll be getting another one for the second semester. She seems to be doing ok/average in her other classes I think, but will this result in her being revoked from UCR? Or will UCR give her a chance to make up the grade in the university? I'm thinking of trying to get a dorm with her to avoid problems with a new person, but if she gets revoked, I have to worry about the whole dorm buddy thing.

The "Asian" thing differs from Asian to Asian, but I'm not gonna lie - I'm pretty Asian myself and I hate it here. UCI would be heaven for all of us Asian Asians. Riverside is lacking hardcore in Asianess; the area is extremely ghetto. Someone told me there's actually a Korean market around here, but I have yet to see it. If you like Asian food, there area few Korean/Japanese places but that's it. I'm probably most hostile towards Riverside because I come from and grew up in an extremely Asian city. Bleh
I don't know about clean air...I just know the weather here is exteme. It's rarely super cold and when winter is about to end, Riverside skips spring and goes straight to summer. It's ridiculous.
As for the sun, ...kiddo, you're in Riverside, right by the desert. If you want to do well in your classes, you're gonna have to go out in the sun and walk to classes, so sunscreen is a must if you are coming here. If you're afraid of tanning, bring a parasol. There's this one super pale gothic Asian girl I see around campus with her black parasol all the time, so you won't be alone.
Don't worry about swimming because UCR does not have a swimming pool.
As for guys, I don't know about French guys but UCR is packed with Asian guys, so I'm sure you'll get your eyefull everyday.
Lastly, for your friend...I don't really know about her D's. It's best to try getting C's or retaking the entire course to get at least C's. But then again I've never heard of an applicant not making it to UCR, so I'm guessing your friend should be safe.
If this skanky Asian druggie girl who ditched school all the time from my high school could make it into UCR (and her highest math level was Algebra II), I'm sure your friend, who is in AP Calc, can make it.

I understand your reservations, but just remember that wherever you choose to go for college, you will have to be open to try new things.
There are a lot of Asians attending UCR, and there are Asian restaurants nearby, so you could still get your fix of Asian dishes. There are a few small Asian markets in the area, most are in Moreno Valley (the next city over) though, so if you have a car it wouldn't be a problem.
The weather is really extreme, though - in the winter it's really cold, and in the summer it's really dry and hot. I personally really don't like the extreme weather. The air is very polluted as well and currently there is a lot of pollen in the air. However I have friends who have strong allergies, and they're fine.
And UCR does have a swimming pool. They happen to be trying to get rid of it, though, I forgot for what reasons. I know there's an online petition to try to save it.
If your friend has good grades in her other classes, she should be fine. Since she got a D in the class already, I strongly advise her to send a letter/email to admissions ASAP to explain the situation, especially if it looks like she might get another D.
Good luck!

There's no difference in a B.S.
A B.S. or a B.A. degree has a set of requirements base on what courses you take.
The honors program on the other hand is quite good. It lets you do social networking and get you exposed to different things i.e. clubs, connect with professors, etc. etc. etc.
You just have to take a certain number of 'honors' classes and attend a workshop.
I'm pretty sure I'm missing some other stuff, but you'll find out during orientation and such.
Best thing is that you can register for classes early...

True.
Riverside skips spring and goes straight to summer. And it doesn't rain too much.
The weather is erratic as hell too. It can be cloudy in the morning the suddenly the sun sticks its ass outta the clouds. Or it can be bright and sunny then suddenly all the clouds decide to congregate and turn the sky into a white grey.
I never know when to wear a jacket because even though I check weather.com daily, the temperature numbers never seem to match up with how it really feels around campus
