Oh yeah I'm taking summer school at UCR this summer.

I keep seeing all you little freshies walking around, looking lost, sweaty, and bored.

Awww, cute :].

Lol. I heard the weather is interesting. I'll chill in my dorm, classrooms, and the gym all day long v.v''

my friend claimed that the best food plan is flex max.

anyone else willing to vouch for this?

and is there a way you can change your meal plan after you submitted it already?

Housing/RSO can change it if you ask them, I believe.

Flex Max allows you to eat at the commons, which serves better food than the dorms, or at Latitude 55 everyday instead of being limited to dorm food. You also get a huge allowance for buying food @ the convenience stores around campus as well.

I think it's the best. It's also the most expensive.

Most expensive generally tends to be the best.

This is true in all ways of life. Generally.

What's the difference between first year learning communities and CHASS connect? and are they useful or necessary?

True. Most people I knew who had Flex Max never found eating to be a problem. One of my friends had $1300 Dining Dollars every 2 quarters and another friend got $1500. The good thing about Flex Max is pretty much not having to worry about your money at all. People I knew with Flex Max had a rough time the last 3 weeks or so of school trying to use off their Dining Dollars. One of my friends ended the year w/ $1000+ unused, gone to waste. So if you get Flex Max, I suggest treating your friends to whatever they want @ the C-Stores: they'll like you more (freeloaders LOL) and you'll rest assured knowing your money is being spent in a timely manner.

I personally felt the weather my freshman year was erratic as heck and not very fitting of the seasons. It never felt really cold in the fall or winter and when spring came, we had summer like temperatures. The only time throughout the year when it actually may feel cold is during the morning and late at night.

And one VERY IMPORTANT thing IDK if anyone else had mentioned already: WEST LOTHIAN AND A&I BOTH DO NOT HAVE A/C. NO AIR CONDITIONING, I REPEAT - NO AIR CONDITIONING. Only East Lothian and Pentland Hills have it. So if you want to survive the heat in your room, take this into consideration.

A learning community pairs you with a group of people that SHOULD stay with you with a certain number of classes. And you might have an extra class every here and there with them as well. That said, I do not know what CHASS Connect does, but that is what a learning community does.

Mine hardly talked with one another, and by the end of Spring Quarter, I was the only person left in mine. Literally. I attended SI sessions alone, so it was like a 1 on 1 tutoring session.

I think my SI hated me for it.

Anyhow, not mandatory, but useful.

How many people go to orientation? HUNDREDS of them huh. D:

I don't know why, but I thought CHASS only orientation was on the 10th/11th. I just realized it was actually today and tomorrow. =( Now.. I think all my classes will be taken.

Could you give some information on some sororities?

I'm more interested in Asian sororities, but there's only AKDPhi right?

All I know is Psi Kai Omega or whatever it's called.

Because in my hall, it became a running joke that whenever we sigh, we also say "Kai Omega" after it. smile.gif

Yay questions about asian greeks smile.gif
Im an aKDPhi at UCR <3

"Cant wait to come here. What'd you guys to at orientation, for the ppls that went?

Asian Frats: Pi Alpha Phi (pineapples), Beta Upsilon Delta (buds), Psi Chi Omega, Lambda Phi Epsilon, Zeta Phi Rho

Well i guess the term "good" is different for everyone. All of these frats party a LOT. haha... yeah
Lambdas and Psi Chis and now pineapples are TECHNICALLY suspended from campus but if your interested you can join. Each frat is really different and holds a different vibe and rep. You should definitely check all of them out smile.gif

Well there are 3 asian sororities on campus: alpha Kappa Delta Phi, Rho Delta Chi, and Sigma Omicron Pi
No different from frats, you should for sure check these sororities out at orientation if your interested. Each sorority has different perspectives which you can benefit from and each also has a different vibe. smile.gif The girls are all really different and you should see who you can get along with the best!

If you have more questions, feel free to ask smile.gif

Might as well join it. I know ONE person in it, she doesn't really comment about it though.
