anyone know if intro to computing is an easy class?

What everyone else said. A lot of people don't bother going to lecture because attendance is not taken, and to be honest, a lot of the concepts presented are pretty much common sense to this generation of computer users (and all the professor does is talk and talk and talk, which = boring). Thing is, it's important to pop in every once in a while because the professor does throw in random tid bits that he specifically says WILL BE on exams.

Lab is extremely easy.

I studied a lot for the exams but never did too well for some reason. I kept getting C's. =(

It's all memorization, so yeah. Overall it is an easy class and it should be a guaranteed-pass class. I ended with a B.

EDIT: Just a random tip I've mentioned many times that I'd like to reiterate: If you're going to be taking your car to UCR (commuting or living on campus) - PLEASE learn how to park between 2 lines. I admit some of the spaces (esp ones by curbs in Parking Lot 14) may be slightly narrow, but I've seen a BMW 528i and a Lexus GS300 fit perfectly into the spaces, and those cars are fat whales, too. If you are a terrible parker, as in over half one side of your car is over in the space beside you or the entire ass of your car is sticking out from the parking space - people will hate you. Just a warning.

question..
on the uc application, i had enlisted a community college i had once attended my sophmore summer in high school
now ucr requires that i send in a transcript for that college
the thing is, first of all i had transferred that single summer course credit to my high school transcript. that was the main purpose
second, its been 2 years since then and i had also gotten a B, and i dont know if ucr will actually list that summer course down as credit (U.S history, btw)
so now, do i go over and request a hand rush delivery and then drive all the way to ucr even though its past the document deadline?
or should i just ignore it and hope they don't revoke my admission because of it?

they ask for the transcripts so they can give u credit if possible for classes u already took. as in u wont have to retake it. i would jus get the transcript and deliver it. u dont have to hand deliver it..as long as it's postmarked before the due date. call the registar's office to make sure.

well the thing is, its a super long drive for me
also i really dont want that B
and yes, july 15th was the due date but i called the academic advisor and she said its still possible to hand deliver it
third, i would totally leave it alone and ignore it but im just nervous that they might revoke my ucr admission (according to the advisor)
is that really possible?

Yeah, they could revoke it if they want to.

I would just go ahead and get a transcript and mail them it, or call that community college, tell them what's going on, etc.

Yeah, courses taken at a CC don't affect your GPA.

wangbeh, is the course UC transferable? As in, it is equivalent to a course available at UCR. Also, does it even count toward your major or breadth requirements? If not, I don't really see it as a big deal, but do send in your CC transcript! Is it possible to request it online?

are the scheduled final exam dates on the schedule of classes site accurate? because i have two classes with finals at the same time. the student counselor told me that the final exam dates are not but i want to make sure cuz that would mean i need to change classes.

For the most part, mine were accurate, although one class did shift its final exam. I would probably just change the classes anyways.

You'll get a confirmation in the mail with which dorm you'll be living in, or online when you check to see which dorm you got into.

that's weird..the system is to automatically not let u apply for classes that have conflicting times. Hmm, you could do it and talk to the advisor about it. i know that if u have 3 in one day, u can talk to the advisor and they can move one for u. jus ask and they should give u permission to take it earlier at a different time.

I don't know much about Bannockburn, but some rooms are furnished and some are not... be sure to ask.

If you're in Falkirk (My 3rd year living there xD) bring your own furniture like a bed, table, whatever you need. It is not furnish, but there's a fridge and stove so just bring kitchen appliances if you want to cook too. You also need to think about who's going to start a contract for internet. The school only pays for Charter cable, so you might want internet haha. They also pay for all the other stuff like electricity and water so that's nice. Lastly, pay for parking permit lol.

If you have any other questions... just PM or something xD I don't check back that often... lol
