Anyways, today didn't seem very organized to me. The Pentland/Glen Mor RSO told me nothing about having to activate my ID card (they even had asked for my ID and had it in possession for like 5 minutes when I went in)...so when I got in to the elevator with my loaded blue cart, ....I was stuck. The doors closed and any button I pressed, the darn thing wouldn't move. I ended up pressing the emergency button for help and I'm lucky just as I was speaking to the help line, someone was coming down from one of the floors (surprisingly a guy from my hall last year who is an RA now), so the doors finally opened, and he explained to me that I needed to have my card activated first.
The RSO could have told me that AHEAD of time or at least directed me towards the card activation room -_______-x
And it took the activation team 2 times to properly activate my card. 1st time it was done, I went back to the elevator and was stuck again. FML man. 2nd time I went back the guy realized he effed up and was about to explain to me what he did wrong (because I had asked what the problem was), but another team member in there stopped him from talking. Psht
Anyways my apartment is nice. But nothing surprising since I had visited a friend's Glen Mor apartment last year (he also had a quad). My view isn't the best (esp the one from my own room), but whatever.
I look forward to maybe inviting some of you to my apartment just to hang out and such. The A/C is like straight from Antarctica or something - freezing cold; immense relief from Riverside's horrid heat. And I hate to say it, but I'm not really too sure about my roomates (they're all random and judging from the Facebook of one of the guys, not really the type of people I'd hang out with), but we'll see.
I officially go back on the 19th, so. Yeah hope to meet some of you Soompiers.

Even though I pretty much hate you all and don't care to hide it. I say that with nothing but kindness
To BoA: Just try and stick it out dude...My roommate is actually pretty cool, thankfully. The first week is always pretty awkward. Don't make any nasty opinions yet until you meet them or else you'll just miss out.

Yeah dude I know. I was the one telling everyone to start school with an open mind, too but honestly sometimes I can't help it. There's actually a reason behind why I'm not at ease but I can't state it because it'd cause quite an uproar.

Haha. It's only been one year for me and I have very negative views towards the school and the city itself. Can't imagine myself at 4 years (that is, if I don't end up successfully transferring to another place)

i do agree the city itself is whatev though. downtown is a nice place to go out on a date. and we're in the middle of everything (40 mins from OC, 20-30 from rowland, 50 from K-Town LA) so to be very honest i never got bored. NRB in garden grove is pretty awesome if you go with a group of friends.

I agree. UCR isn't that bad. Like everyone says, it's what you make of it.
Instead of complaining about UCR's failures, just don't think about it. Have fun. What the hell is the use of complaining about something that has no feelings? You can't change it, you're just wasting time and making yourself feel worse.
Go out and stop being miserable, you'll just end up a lone and sad and with no crazy stories to tell anyone about your wild times in College.

I still don't have internet (I am starting to dislike Charter) and they said they'll install it on Tuesday... Ugh. But for now, I guess I can just leech from my apartment's business center and friends who haved moved in...
Anyhow, I live like 1.6 miles from Campus, but my apartment is pretty nice in my opinion. Of course, that may be bias, but I like it! Even though I don't have a lot of necessities still (vegetable peeler, chef knife, cutting board... making curry last night without those was a nightmare). And I don't have internet or TV, although my roommate and I are going to find one on Craigslist and a Wii so we don't need cable. Woohoo.

Lol.. I've been here for 3 years and I feel EXACTLY the same. I LOVE my time here.
Everything is just under an hour away. I can go to LA and enjoy yummy food & the nightscene, I can hit the beach on a sunny day, I can go to Disney or Six Flags on a day off, I can go to Chino Hills (20 mins) for the best 99 ranch in southern California, and stop by the bakery nearby for fresh breakfast.

Riverside only has charter. & Charter SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS.
You'll have bio lab first week if you are taking bio 5B or 5C. I don't think you have it for 5A.

I'm thinking about applying to UCR in October and I've heard a lot of good and bad things about it. Thanks to the entire budget thing and CA FAILING, I'm really worried that I won't get in. (3.6 GPA/1500 SAT [retaking])
HOW'S THE WEATHER?

Aww I don't think Charter is that bad. Or maybe it's just because I'm used to it, I've had it practically all my life. I got Charter cable and internet recently installed in my new apartment, the guy who came was really nice. And yesterday I called regarding a question on my first statement, and the lady that helped me was great as well.
I actually signed up for it online, and then talked to someone at Charter online as well, to confirm everything and to set up a date and time for the guy to come. I was told that the day before your installation, you will get a call to confirm that it is still on. You will also get another call about an hour before the guy is to arrive at your place.

Honestly, don't worry about not getting in. I've never heard of someone NOT making UCR (I've heard it does happen, but the cases are odd and very rare). I heard UCR even sends acceptance letters to people who didn't even apply to the school.
And as for the weather, people have already answered it, but I'd like to add that I personally don't think it ever gets cold enough to the point where one can rock some serious winterwear. Some people argue that it does get super cold, but usually at hours when most people wouldn't be out.

I can consider this a WIN. It's my second choice school and to know I'm pretty much in, I've got a lot less to worry about. Whoooo.
Does it get cold in the winter? I live up north so summer/winter has a super dramatic difference, where as so-cal summer/winters aren't so dramatic
