As for the math placement test, I remember signing up for that online. I don't have the site link, but I'm sure it's on the myUCR portal somewhere. They provide a list of locations to take the test other than UCR, so I took it at a nearby community college (Pasadena City College).

because i called riverside since the website said the only locations to take the math test is UC Riverside, so i asked if i could take it near my house. But the lady i spoke said no, i could only take it at UCR and that UCR was pretty close to my house which it defenitely is not! T_T

Im looking foward to meeting LOTS of new people .. but im scared im gonna be a loner .. hahhaha
im freakin out about roommates.. no GIRL i noe is going to riverside
hahah a
Don't worry about that.
I felt like that too when it was my first day at UCR.
All the people here are pretty chill.
You just have to start talking to people in your classes or join clubs or something.
I've made a lot of friends by asking people for directions.

what about the guys?
Yes, there are a lot of pretty asian girls here in my opinion.
I live an an area where I don't see a lot of asians. So I think many of the asians here are pretty.
The guys?? There are some that are pretty cute and some that are okay.
Depends.

good- not a bad school! i know in HS you hear that riverside is ghetto and all but the school is fine.
bad-
downtown riverside is ghetto but getting better.
Which dorms i should live in/how's the food.
- i lived in east lo which i really enjoyed. i was at pentland for a month when school started but i didn't like it so i moved. it's very secluded in pentland. it's hard to meet people in your dorm and hall since its so small and secluded. UNLESS your seriously willing to go to every floor and become friends with everyone which will be difficult to do since for every 4 rooms you need a key to get into that hall so you can't really do that either.
is biological sciences really competetive?
-i'm a biology major and yes the sciences are competitive. just be prepared and know what your getting into. it's not easy i'll tell you that. i'm a third year btw.
and is it true that people transfer out after 1 year?
-because they hate riverside and want to leave asap? NO. i never heard of that. people enjoy the school just as any other school and usually all stay for all 4 years or longer haha. of course just like any other school, some students to do transfer out to a different school after 2 years due to major conflicts.
any other tips about my major or just tips in general.
-making friends in college may be difficult at first but the key thing is to get to know your hallmates. all my hallmates from freshman year, are my good friends now. they're still the people i hang with.
-showers, bring your own stuff of course and shower sandals and a robe! you don't want to walk back to your room in a towel!
-books...if i don't have to buy it i don't. the school provides a few copies of every book on reserve so you can use those, esp for bs classes not for science books though. and the science books are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE! my ochem book just changed and the new one is $200+ so i'm using the old book. def not worth it. so def be prepared to buy your expensive science books!
-be prepared to join and be active in clubs, always good for your resume for grad school!
umm can't think of anything else to say...hope this helps!
[EDIT]
and just to clarify from what i remember the 4 dorms were priced differently. AI the cheapest because it's pretty shitty, then west lo, then east lo, then pentland. now that there's the student apts glenmor those are $900 per month.
also i know that UCR compared to UCLA doesn't seem all that great. BUT UCR as a school is growing so fast and expanding, we're getting recognized for so many things. Entymology was founded at UCR and UCR is known for their Biology and Business departments. it is a well known fact that the Biology department at UCR is greater than UCLA'S. and i have heard that from students who also took biology classes at UCLA. as i'm sure you've heard UCR will be opening up a medical school in 2011, so UCR is going to make a good name for itself in the next few years.

thanks for the info!
now i'm kind of starting to change my mind about wanting to live in pentland. it seems like it will be hard to make friends since its so secluded. i probably might end up signing up for east lothian unless i really don't like it when i see it on saturday~ but the good thing about pentland is that i wouldn't have to share bathrooms with a whole hallway, which is always a plus~

Oh well, I don't want to be the only one of my friends living in Riverside. And plus, free laundry and meals and I'll get a car. Lol, I dont think my parents will get me a car if I live on campus. O.O

Lots of people ride bikes here but UCR campus isn't that big. You can get to the other side of the campus in 10-15 minutes(depends on how fast you walk).
If you don't like to walk then you can bring a bike, scooter, skateboard, etc.

I don't think they would have those to take you to classes because the campus isn't that big, but I know they have some sort of escort service if you want to leave the campus or something. When I went there yesterday I saw a small bus take a few people.
