Holy crud I just saw my MAE results and I got placed into a LOW ASS math class - Math 4 (Intro to College Mathematics for Business & Social Sciences).

Someone please comfort me and tell me that they're in th same boat.

And BTW I got placed into English001A....but I scored pretty darn high for Writing on my SATI. Is this normal?

what's your major? if your major is pre-business, i think it's normal. if your major is something else.. i don't know. haha

my major is pre-business (i'll be changed to business administration in the fall) and the first math class i took was math4. it's like trigonometry and pre-calculus and it's FREAKING easy. i got an A+. math 5, 9, etc is for bio majors i believe.

i was also placed into 1a as an incoming freshmen. it's normal, don't worry. smile.gif

How is Math22 (Calculus for Business)? If anyone has taken it before..

Bear Facts Orientation is coming up real soon..and I'm still not sure what classes to choose for the first quarter.. unsure.gif
Any advices or suggestions on how to get started on that?

Regarding CHASSF1RST..is anyone in the CHASS joining any of the programs?

Thanks! sweatingbullets.gif

I'm Undeclared for CHASS, and to be honest, I'm still clueless as to what the heck I want to major in. My mom is on my ass about it hardcore.

And Math 4 is easy? Are you sure? I struggled like hell junior year in PreCalc and I hate Trig with a passion.

Does UCR have a pool? I don't mean the recreation pools but one where you can just hang out and cool off on hot days, which I'm sure there'll be plenty of. <.<;;

oh okay. yea that makes sense. i came in as undeclared too and math004 was the first math course i took. don't worry! it doesn't mean you're not smart or anything just because math004 sounds like it's way lower than math5, 9, etc.

most people if not all who are in chass take math 4.

i thought math004 was pretty easy.. as long as you attend class, do homework, study for quizzes and midterms, you'll be fine. haha but i guess that's saying a lot. it shouldn't be that hard... the professors have office hours where you can go to their offices and they help you out with whatever you need.

if you're not sure what you want to major in as an incoming freshmen, don't worry! i came in fall06 as undeclared and changed to pre-business in spring07. just take classes that you're interested in and try to take classes that cover general ed requirements.

Alright. Thanks so much! I feel better.

Haha but I'm getting worried up the ass right now because I'm hearing people who went on the first orientation date already couldn't register for classes they wanted - meaning classes became full THAT quickly. Frankly speaking I shouldn't be screwed that badly since I don't even know what I'm majoring in (thus I don't have any specific classes I should take), but still - just the fact worries me. And my orientation date is really late, too (7/19-7/20) because I stalled like crazy when it was time to sign up. x__x Any advice from anyone?

Does anyone know if it is still possible to take the MAE? I went to the signup page but they only have AWPE seminars and nothing with MAE on it. I also signed up for the the orientation on the 19-20th smile.gif

^ I'm attending the 11th-12th orientation.
According to friend who went there was ice breaker games and
at night we time for ourselves to wander around and there's a dance and rock climbing.
The second day is dedicated to registering for classes.

does anybody have a heart, that isn't made of broken parts?
'cause we're all willing to be torn in two for one taste of bliss.

Since it showed on your page, looks like you passed. Congrats. =)

Isn't it too late to take the MAE now? I think I took the last test last Sunday. It was packed.

Oh, I got the results from my MAE, I'm going to be in Math 9A, first year calculus, yay. At least I'm not going backwards. My friend got into Math 8A or something and it was suppose to be an Into to College Mathematics but another friend of mine got into Math 5 I think and that was Precalculus so how does that work? O.O

Oh oh, and one last question, if you qualified for English with your SAT or AP score, what class do you get put in? <3

English 1A.

English 1B as well, but it depends on AP score.

If you simply pass with a 3 on AP Lit, you get placed into Engl 1B, so you get to skip 1A. :]

I was pretty sure you were only able to take the MAE on the listed dates, but according to one of my friends who's going to the 11-12th orientation, she'd being allowed to take the exam on the first day. I guess UCR was lenient this year, likely because of the large incoming influx of students.
