I hung out with my friends from school alot, considering one of them was in my group so I followed him around all day. >.< I didn't talk to many people outside my group besides when we did the games. I didn't make any new friends that I will actually keep in contact with.
I really liked the Common Grounds game thing though. I felt it really helped create an understanding and trust. I was really surprised that most of the people took it seriously, completely different fom high school.
The registration was horrible. My schedule came out fine but one of my friends got a horrible schedule. There were three-four hour gaps between classes and days with only one class. He also made a list of backups for one of his classes and all eleven of them were full. I took a learning community because I wanted to get into a chem class. When I was in line for it, a lady came in and wrote on the board the only chem lab still open for registration and it was not the one I had listed in the paper schedule we made. The paper schedule was a complete waste of time because all the classes I listed were full besides the ones for the learning community. I'd hate to have to do that EVERY quarter. That would be torture.

I think the icebreaker games are less embarassing because everyone does them and you'll be left out for a long time if you don't.

Sweet no need for paper schedules after orientation. Just plain old electronic, though, it still as bad. To much competition for classes.

I was looking at the remaining Chem Classes open, there's spots left in Chem 1A, but there's no Discussion classes open at all. That means I can't get into one huh?
Even worse, I noticed HONORS Chem has spots open, and discussion. And I satisfy the req's for HONORS chem...
Why did the "HONORS" People not take HONORS Chem. God damn.
So, yeah, I'm sorta screwed and need to take Honors Chem right?
Other than that, it looks like my other 3 classes have space.

people in the honors program HAVE to take honors chem. they can't take anything else.
Chem 1A is just a really popular class, and freshman unfortunately just aren't left with many spots.

And Lord, am I not looking forward to registration. From the sound of everyone else's experience, it sounds like a hassle and pain up the rear. My question is....my call time for registration is 12pm, but could I show up @ like 11 or maybe even earlier and get it finished quicker? Also, I don't even know WHAT classes to take. All I know are what level Math and English classes I should be in. Anything else, I'm clueless. Isn't there a list of classes online you can look up? Could anyone help me with that? I tried Googling and never found jack.
And as for the roomates and crap, how does it work? Are you randomly assigned to someone already staying @ UCR or someone in your orientation group?
And how long do we have to stay in the friggin sun? I hate the sun.

no clue if u can register early, but i think not. since it sounds like ur going to orientation, the orientation group will have its own period to register so just wait up. as for classes... hmm... take w/e u want >_> i personally suggest English 1A, Calc 9A (or w/e math u need), and a crap course like music 008 just to take it easy. then later on during the quarter you can research and what classes to take in depth when u have more resources available.
roommates... didn't u turn in a form? i remember mine was like "where do you want to live, ai, lothain, pentland" and they pick ur first choice unless it's full, and as for roommate, there were preferances u filled in, such as "how messy r u: clean-freak, moderate, tornado" and the such and u could put in a line of real personal preferance where u wrote something to which i personaly wrote "asian person plz" cuz yeah.....
sun. lots of sun. grow to love the sun or you'll just be sad. it's like 110 degrees, i feel for ya. u gotta "tour" the campus which is pretty damn big.

Thank you so much. =)
xkrn4lyfx - Yeah, I turned that thing in, but it was via GROWL/UCR website, though. As for the sun, haha yea I know. I've lived in Southern California my entire life, but I'm becoming more and more anal about the sun.

^ LOL I'd rather go find someone w/ an umbrella and hang out with them. Damn, I'm becoming insanely sun-phobic for some reason. -___-x
But yeah if anyone from Soompi is also attending the 7/19 orientation and IS bringing an umbrella, I'm willing to stick with them (although they're not guaranteed to be in my group).

What group you're thrown in is major dependent...or was it CNAS/CHASS/BCOE dependent?
One of those.
