FROM WHAT I REMEMBER:

You go to the Pentland Greens [for Pentland] .. it's the area near the RSO... big grassy field !
You stand in line for the first letter of your last name.
You get your keys.. you and your parents can also check out blue carts w/Driver's License...
Then, you go to your room and do whatever. I think it's on a Sunday or something.. so yeah.

It was CHAOTIC and HECTIC... my parents cried [ haahahahahahahahaha ]... and I made my bed, arranged my stuff, and hung out with people I met [ we watched a movie ].

IF YOU NEED ANY HELPPPPPPpppppppppppppp I'm always available lol.

There is still a possibility that you might not get it.
But A&I and West Lo are just as great.
It all depends on how early you sent in your down payment to secure your spot.
I can you that if you don't get East Lo and you happen to end up at A&I or West Lo
you won't regret it by the end of your first year in college.

It's just I'm worried about the sheets.. HAHAHAHA!
I'm shopping for stuff already but I don't know what size to get :\
I also don't want to order from them so I guess I might just wait until I know... SIGHS!
But Target is having such great sales! ):
I'm still kinda nervous about move in day and all...
Whoo college....

Twin X-Long will fit. Twin X-Long is a standard size, and all brands/companies that make them make them pretty much the same. They'll fit over the beds for sure. Target has sets with all the stuff + towels in bags, called "Dorm-In-A-Bag." Of course, Target stands to make profit on those, I think they were 80 dollars? They also sell seperate components of the set (Comforter, sheets, fitted, pillowcase, sham, etc), and you can construct a set yourself from those for about 60(You don't get the 8 towels they give you though...I don't think 8 towels costs 20 dollars). However, note that the sets you can come up with rarely look as good as the ones they already have (Pillowcases wont match the sheet colors, I think they do it on purpose). The only two set colors are Blue and Pink though, at least there's a fancy design on them.

Bed, Bath and Beyond also has a set(with towels) that's solid one color(Blue or Pink, my Target had this plaid blue and striped pink), and I'd say the quality is less than Target's. The price is the same, but if you got those 20% off Coupons in the mail, it might make them a better buy(16 dollars off is pretty nice).

Don't bother checking Ross. Marshalls/TJ Maxx sometimes have them, but they're usually not sets, but they give the Comforter, Fitted, Sheet, Pillowcase, and Sham. You still need to get a pillow, as with any combination. They have less stuff than Target or BBB (no towels!), and they're usually more expensive too. But the thread count is usually higher, plus you can get "name brands" like Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Calvin Klein, etc.

I picked up a set from Target (It matches, at least unsure.gif), and an extra set of sheets from TJ Maxx(It was like 20 bucks, but the thread count is nice and cozy @ 410).

If that doesn't help, I dont know what will.

I went to Ross the other day and they had these big silky comforters, so soft, but they don't have bed skirts...T.T

I'm not moving out but I'm gonna buy stuff for my room anyway, lol. Target really does have a nice selection. I also saw a Wal-mart commercial the other day so you can check that out too. Wal-mart is always cheap...

urghh i'm not looking forward to move in day, sounds hectic and tiring.

by the way, on moving day, after our parents help us, do they go home or stay with us for the day?
and are we free to do whatever, or is it like orientation, where we have to follow somebody and like do activities and stuff?

also what do we during welcome week? like before school starts?

After your parents or whoever help you move in, you could do whatever you want. :] I'm not sure if they could park in the parking lot the whole day, though? Last year during the night of move-in day, there was a welcome BBQ for residents. And your RA should be holding a mandatory hall meeting the first night, so you guys could meet each other and he/she could lay out some ground rules.

During welcome week, there are some events planned such as a comedy show and the Block Party, during which student organizations set up booths and there are performances and stuff. I think most people just explore the campus and surrounding areas during welcome week. Definitely check out where the buildings are, so you don't get too confused when looking for your classrooms. :]

The evil Parking Services will not ticket you the first day [I believe], until after Moving Day ends.

If you live in the dorms, your RA will hold a hall meeting... YOU NEED TO GO. There are contracts and things you need to sign.

I skipped the comedy show, went to Block Party for free food, but mostly hung out with friends. I did NOT check out where my buildings where before class started... which was a big mistake, but if you do, GO WITH SOMEONE. It's so easy to get lost... plus Riverside still has creeps around, lol.

^Haha yeah, during welcome week a couple of friends and I went around looking for the buildings, and I felt so lost. It helped a tiny bit though, since at least I recognized some parts of the campus after that. People say to use the Bell Tower as a guiding point, but that didn't help me much since I kinda have a poor sense of direction haha. And then once you actually find the building you're looking for, it might be confusing looking for a specific room number too. >< Some parts of buildings just seem to be numbered weirdly.

Don't go near the park-thing structure near A-I. unsure.gif My couselor told us that if you walk through there alone, you don't know if there's someone waiting to just jump you and mug you or something. Always go with a friend.

I'll be your friend? rolleyes.gif I've found Facebook helps alot in making friends; I have like a pretty good group of male friends and a couple of females already, and I don't know anyone who's going here either.

Umm Sweet, I believe that you have your own welcome thing for commuters, but I'm not completely sure.

Why do we start on a thursday? blah. My first class is chemistry.
Maybe I'll come back on a Wednesday. I move in around the second week of Sept.

Move in day for the dorms will be fine. You'll get to use blue carts to help you with your stuff. Try not to go TOO early. That's when it's usually busy.

Oh yeah.. be sure to avoid the park near A&I, and the walk from the Health Centre to Pentland [that's called the rape path].

It looks SOOOO pretty but it's REALLY dangerous if you're alone ! I always walk by the road... I never go into the park unless I'm with a huge group of friends, lol.

Welcome week is the best week to meet all the clubs, sororities, and fraternities.. and don't be afraid ! I was so afraid of approaching any sororities my first week.. but you should, because that's when they get to meet you! Dress cutely biggrin.gif.

I think school starts on a Thursday because people have a weekend to get used to their classes ? Most classes run MWF or TR... so if you have a first class, then a weekend, you can sort of "get in the groove," maybe have a weekend to decide whether or not you wanna drop or add classes ?

Also, yeah, after you're on campus for a year or two, you can use the Bell Tower as a reference point, but at first you probably won't get it, haha. I didn't use the Bell Tower to figure out where anything was until last quarter xD.

The places I suggest you all learn are:

BOURNS B118 !
UNIVERSITY LECTURE HALL [UNLH]
SPROUL
WATKINS
PIERCE
SPIETH
RIVERA LIBRARY
SCIENCE LIBRARY
