A 14-day-old baby, Michael Futi, who was here to receive a heart surgery at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, died at Honolulu Airport after being held there. Apparently, his mother had problems with her waiver to enter Hawaii but the airport security held back both Michael and his nurse, Vevea, even though they carried no luggage and they were both naturalized American citizens and had U.S. passports. After being released, the baby was sent to Kaiser Permanentes Moana-lua Medical Center, where he later died. They said that if the airport had released him on time he would have survived.
