Well, I just want to ask.

I have a friend who will be turning 17 this year. She is determined to be a singer, and wanted to debut in Korea.
She's a Korean Music Lover, She sings Korean songs everyday, she barely knows songs in her own language which is Chinese. And I think she can sing pretty well, she has a pretty powerful but soothing voice, and of course some training will make her even better. I'm also a music-lover who really loves to sing, so trust me, she is a good singer LMAO!!!
Yes, she's a Chinese who wants and hopes to debut in Korea.

But she's already 17 and you know, in Korea, they always debut at very young age and I think that's like the mind set for most of the fans in Korea. My friend is already 17 and she thinks she's too old, I tried to convince her but me myself are not sure whether is it too late or not..

So do you guys think it's too late? Cause if you enter the company, especially SM, they need time to train you and if you're already 17, you might debut at around 20? or 21? Or probably longer, I don't know.

Conclusion is :

My friend is Chinese, from Malaysia and is turning 17 in the middle of the year. So, you think she should just forget about debuting in Korea? And she can speak very well in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, taking Korean lessons too LOL!! I thought companies like SM or YG might like it? haha..

Oh, and my another friend had been asking her to just send a demo tape to SM by snail mail and see if they called her back or not, but she's hesitating, she shouldn't be LOL! Do you think it's fine to send a demo to SM?

Anyway, I just wanna know all of your opinions..

Thank you very much..

Hrmmm she has a slim chance, but still a chance considering shes chinese and has a good voice.

Is she a good dancer?
AND more importantly, is she pretty?....or presentable?

Hi I'm Angel, nice to meet You!

Oh, slim chance? Well, not a bad dancer I think, at least when there's music, she doesn't just stand there like a rock LOL!!
And I think she's okay, she's a bit chubby right now and I believe it's not really a problem? She can just lose weight right?

looks really play a big role in sm
and since these are korean companies,
it may be a little difficult, but korean lessons are good.

honestly, from my opinion,
i think she should just go for it
because you never know unless you
actually try!

good luck to her!

just try it .
if they reject it or not .

they hv to try it . why ?
because, if SM or YG accept them to be a trainee . WOW !
dreams come true !

but if YG or SM reject it, keep trying .
work hard !!

and your friend can speak well in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Korean .
and not bad in dance . why didn't try it ?

don't give up !
try it ! okay~~ ^^

blue-LOVAA-korea: OHH, I just think she can do some basic moves and pretty flexible, not the 'not bad in dancing' status yet LOL!! But I think dancing can be trained right?

And as for Korean, she can read and write and understand a little bit, we took lessons together haha^^

But since non of us know how to actually let SM notice, can you tell me a way?
Do you think sending a demo video through snail mail works? I heard many said it's better if you send by post instead of e-mails.

Thank you for your opinions, I think I'll show her this thread and hope for more encouraging replies from soompi.

it's not too late.
but i wouldn't aim for sm if i were her b/c they seem to like young people.
but that one singer.. i forgot her name but she's the "korean maria carey" or something.
and she's just amazing.
and she's 25.
so... nope it's ont too late
and not to mention, park bom!
she's like old right now and she's still a trainee

if her vocal is good and can speak different language plus not bad in dance

SM wud problii accept her

but LOOKS FIRST then TALENT cums in SM which is so weird for s famous ent.

even though SM r famous i wudnt audition fo them cos SM treats u very bad and its true

since she has sum talent she sud definetlii try out

plus also try for YG or JYP!

It's definitely not late...
Sure, it's a lil' behind, but if you see, there's quite a few people who still debuted at the age of 20 or less and they auditioned at the age of 16!
I'm 17, and I just went to my first audition for JYP in L.A two weeks ago and my dream/goal is to become a dance-group singer, like H.O.T, ShinHwa, etc...

So try not to think of the age, I used to do that too and the more I think that, the harder it's going to be, so just tell her: "Think Positive!"

i'll make it simple: definitely not. just make sure she has enough talent for her age to be qualified though.

you know, its actually never too late, until u pass the limit, i mean technically 17 should be the go for it age. if she has talent and presentable then should be okay, age is just a small matter.

HEYY THAT'S LIKE ME!!! except i already turned 17, and no i do not think it's too old, because then that would be telling myself i am too old for this HAHA... not to mention when i was 16 i alrdy gave it a lot of thought thinking i might be too old, but i passed that stage, because obviously they have people debuting at a young age like snsd and WG but there are also older people debuting like black pearl and about to debut like park bom, sandara park and such... so yaaa definitely dont give up =]

Remember, 한경 and 회철 were 19 (in American Age 20 in Korean) when they started training. But its the truth, you better have some looks, because looks can help balance out the age factor. SM looks at appearance first.
