Here comes the next boy band sensation - Supernova (a.k.a. Cho Shin Sung)! The name “Supernova”, meaning an explosion of a star emitting luminosity far greater than that of the sun, was chosen from a list of numerous fan contributions. Like their name suggests, these six boys are gearing up to explode onto different entertainment venues, showing off their talents as singers, dancers, and actors. Their confidence stems from a two and a half years of extensive vocal, dancing, and acting training. In order to distinguish themselves from other boy bands, Supernova sports a formal look over casual attire - accentuating their masculine appeal.
Their first release, Supernova Vol. 1, features HIT (Track 1), a dance number with a catchy chorus and powerful rap composed by Ju Yung Soo, a high-caliber songwriter who wrote hits such as SG Wannabe’s “Arirang”, See Ya’s “Crazy Love Song”, Kim Jong Kook’s “Walking in One Spot”, and Shin Hye Sung’s “First Love”. The song showcases an elaborate dance sequence filled with hip hop, popping, krumping, and breaking. The group also made headlines with their 1.2 billion won-budgeted blockbuster music video starring singer/actress Yoo Jin (Save Your Last Dance For Me) and directed by Cha Eun Taek (If in Love… Like Them). “Sad Love” (Track 2) displays Supernova’s eloquent lyrical vocals, accompanied by piano and orchestral sounds and forceful drumbeats.
