I know its not that big of a deal, but today I asked my teacher to help me out with a project and she nearly gave me ALL the answers. When
I came home RIGHT after, I was ready to write down everything she told me but... I completely forgot everything.

Its just not that, I've been forgetting what everyone's been saying to me. If you told me to recap about my day, I would have no idea. =/

I've been getting around 6-7 hours of sleep which is pretty average for me, and I'm eating perfectly fine.

i think the lack-ish of sleep is effecting it. because i have a horrible sleeping schedule, and one of the worst memories ever.

maybe you just also have short term memory loss? haha
dont know. im no expert. at all.

ohmy.gif I'm kind of scared that my memory is degrading or something.

I usually get 6-7 hours of sleep though, can it be because of that? I heard that you need an average of 8-10 hours of sleep! lol

I'm like that too but it's mostly because of stress or if you have a lot of things on your mind.

and i forget where i put things.
i don't get enough sleep either, so maybe thats the problem > <"
i'm tired and when people tell me it doesn't sink into my brain.

I used to have photographic memory; I'd remember every single thing I heard, saw or what I had to do.
I still remember little things, but my memory has been very iffy lately, and it's thanks in part to being a stressed out, full-time college student. I find myself walking into rooms forgetting what I went in there for, I grab a bowl and forget what I was about to eat, I change but I don't remember where I'm supposed to be going, I go on about a song I like and then I forget what song I was even talking about, I forget people's names two seconds after they told me (and I'm usually REALLY good with names), etc. So yeah...It sucks, I think it's just the whole transitioning thing. I actually get more sleep now than I used to in high school (I sleep probably 7-8 hours now compared to 4-5 hours in high school) but I am a lot more stressed and physically active now. So I guess...The part of the brain that is meant for retaining memory is concentrating more on relieving stress? Lol, just making a crazy guess there, don't quote me sweatingbullets.gif.

Contrary to the popular belief that as you get older you can sleep less, you actually need about 9 hrs of sleep per night as a teen. =P

Each night that you don't get that amount of sleep, it adds up and creates something called "sleep debt". Say you sleep for 6 hours one night, and 7 the other, you accumulate 5 hrs of sleep debt. Your body can't pay back the sleep debt on its own. You sleep your regular 9 hours PLUS the sleep debt (14 hours total).

The greater your sleep debt is, the less your brain is able to perform optimally.

Just something I learned from class. ^^

My friend who has memory problems takes some sort of supplement. I don't remember what it was though. : (

I sleep around 6 hours a day, but I don't think it has affected my memory. Or... I don't know. I remember the most mundane, useless things (like the color of someone's shirt, something I overheard, etc.) but I can't remember what I've been taught in most of my classes. Selective amnesia, anyone? XD

I'm also like that.LOL I keep on forgeting what people tell me. Like when my mom says, "What did [insert random name here] tell you?", I can't anymore remember what that random person said to me. Though, I only forget what people tell me but I don't forget where I put my things.

Do you also eat breakfast?
I went on a health/fitness rampage (on Yahoo, haha)
and I found out that eating breakfast (and berries/fruit) helps your memory.
which is why, when you take standardized testing, your teachers recommend you eat breakfast.
So you can remember things.

Its been proven, and I have just started getting used to eating breakfast on a daily basis, and I've noticed I remember things a whole lot easier than i used to.

Off Topic:
I'm hungry now =[

Just focus and concentrate.. repeat it over and over again and i guess that's sort of like training your brain. I think i read somewhere that the more you recall it the piece of memory, the stronger the pathways for the neurons is... and the easier it will be to recall it...?

It could be that you took a long brain-break (for example, summer break) and didnt use your brain for a long time so you have to.. warm it up a bit? Im like that during breaks. my memory is horrible. just keep studying, memorizing stuff because the more you use your memory, the better it gets.

dont lose hope.. you're not alone. =)

Woah that sounds like me except I'm in high school, not college. I used to have a pretty good memory but mine is like crap now. It's probably because I don't sleep as much. So yeah, just try sleeping more.
