Right now I'm trying to decide between UCSD, UCD, UCSB, and UCR.

UCSD - Economics
Pros- Good Name
Cons- Not very good classes cant learn as much, hard to find job without mba

UCD - Managerial Economics
Pros:Close to home
Cons: Not very good classes can't learn as much, hard to find job if no mba but davis can help me find internship

UCSB - Not really sure but the one that goes toward accounting
Pros: Easier to get a job when I get out dont have to go grad school
Cons: Stuck with accounting for the rest of my life

UCR - Pre Business
Pros: Wide Variety of Classes in business field
Cons: No Name

or should i try and appeal....even though my chances are zero >_<

QUOTE (desperation. @ Apr 3 2008, 06:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If I got rejected from one school, I will apply to all of them just in case. It's always good to have tons of back up even if you may get reject from 3 school and get accept to 1 school.

But apply your top two school.

Did you even read her post? She got into all these schools, she's just trying to decide which one to go to..

-____- Haha, you can't have both name and good teachers. Usually if it's a public school and it has name, you get horrible teachers. In my opinion, UCs are about your ability to succeed and thrive on your own. It weeds out the not-as smart people. Not everyone who goes to a UC will succeed.

Actually, for your MBA you can go to any school you want (if you get in); doesn't have to be your undergraduate school. sleep.gif I would pick UCD because it's still a pretty good school and you can get an internship. I think when applying for graduate school, experience is really important especially like internships. But I'm not sure if UCD is a strong business school (don't think it is). Or i would pick UCR because you seem like you'll learn more. It's just that UCR seems unbelievably boring to me. sleep.gif The fame of your school doesn't matter. What matters is you get good grades and experience. But it's true that the school's with fame attract recruiters and more attention.

I would pick UCD over UCR though. Do well and then go to a good business graduate school to get your MBA. If you really, really want to succeed, I say you NEED an MBA. Companies love people with MBAs. sleep.gif

UCSD has one of the top undergraduate econ programs. It's also a better school overall than your other choices.
Note that Riverside and Davis are in the middle of nowhere... so if you don't like rural-ish places, I wouldn't suggest those two schools...

Er, I think this definitely matters...? >> Undergrad doesn't matter as much but it's still pretty important (generally).

Well, if you care about fame then yeah it does matter. But if you have your school's fame to back you up, but not the grades, then why does it matter? If you can definitely deal with the tougher competition, then go to UCSD. UCSD does have the best program out of all of them and is the best place for internship because it's a major city (but you did say you can get one more easily from Davis), but it wouldn't make a difference if you can't do well in school. Then you wouldn't get the internship anyways.

If you can do better at UCD than UCSD than why not? I would rather get the good grades and then go to a really good graduate business school. But yeah, the fact that UCD doesn't have strong business-related majors isn't a plus. It's a matter of what you care about. To a lot of people, UCSD would be the most obvious choice to go to.
