I had too much questions but didnt know WHO to ask so ill be asking here!
Hopefully someone will answer? ^^

01. I messed up on the first semester of 10th grade, didnt really care about grades.
These are my grades for 10th and 11th grade fall and spring.
10th FALL: 3.3
10TH SPRING: 4.0
11TH FALL: 4.0
11TH SPRING: ~ 4.6

Im wondering if that 3.3 will somehow affect me?

02. I got a D in ALGEBRA2 but retook it and got a A. I asked my counselor and she told me uc's only count the new grade, but will still look at the D.
Would this affect me?

03. Can anyone just let me know where my grades/stats can take me? UCs only ^^.

Unweighted: 3.76
SAT: 1900
Lots of Volunteer and Extracirricular
High Honor Roll/Perfect Attendace/Volunteer Awards from Institutions

(I hate the limiting to 8 semesters thing -___- I was planning to take 6 college courses over the summer. )

Yeah, this is true. For a lot of students it's not just about getting the extra point. There's the fact that you get credit in college if you score well on the AP. Some students just need the challenge too and can't handle being in an easy class. I have a friend who's like that, haha.

It's true, but I think the admissions officers also see the classes you're taking, so they consider that in admissions as well.

I think it won't affect you as much. But I think you need to explain that you retook it, anyways even if your grades say so (They have a box to let you explain stuff like this in your application). I got a D in honors chemistry and I didn't explain that I retook it this year, and yeah... I got rejected from all four UCs I applied to and my majors didn't even have anything to do with science, even UC Irvine.

Also, the UCs really look for improvement, as in your grades continually scale upwards or maintain a good strong grade. Just remember to still take AP courses in senior year, or at least not classes that appear easy to slack-off in. That played another factor in my not getting in I think. I had three AP courses last year and I took none this year.

i didnt take ANY ap's during my 10th grade year. took two honor classes history and english. got A's in both for both semesters but my school doesnt offer UC HONOR LEVEL credits to honors classes in 10th grade.

^ so just normal bio and algebra?

i'd think you'd be OK, after all, your classes are semi-challenging, and you show a upward trend
also depends on which UC you'll be applying to

i dont think you have to worry so much...a D is obviously not good...but, you have shown improvement with your GPA and the courses you took throughout the 11th grade...well, i can't really determine what uc's you can get into because the uc system is , to some degree, random...but anyways, your improvement will definitely show colleges that you've been working hard

ps. how many points do you get for ap's and/or honors? because 4.6 is high
