I've been reading around on the net the Joomla vs. Drupal "debate" smile.gif

Wanted to know what my fellow Soompiers thought. I wish to put up a site for social networking/audio streaming download etc.
I am a non-techie and it seems expensive to hire someone to do it from scratch (based on the drupal consult prices I've seen). So, I'm leaning towards learning Joomla and using that since its supposed to be easier.

Your thoughts?

How difficult would it be to switch a site over to Drupal at some later point?

Personally, I thought Drupal was a lot easier to use than Joomla when trying some of those programs out. It was a lot easier to organize and clean things up in Drupal.

Honestly, though, they both seem to do the job. ._.
It's just that Joomla is supposedly quick and simple where as Drupal takes a bit more time to learn, but you can do more things with it.

Oh, and I heard Joomla's prettier. haha

Yeah I was actually reading a book on Joomla and it looks simple enough. It almost turns out to be a moot point because for some reason I am having trouble ftping the Joomla files to my web host dry.gif
The Drupal uploaded fine (different site/different host) so I'll be playing around with that for a while. I'm off to find some pretty Drupal themes...

I hope they both work with wordpress PHP :X

I personally think Joomla is a lot more user friendly; especially for those who aren't as technically savy. Either case, both are great CMS products; each with their pros and cons.

Soompi = Drupal.
