Well I think it depends on the person.
There's nothing wrong with people going to a community college.
But personally, I prefer going to a university straight from hs.

It depends on your own level and ability to thrive and succeed. Some high school students aren't ready for the competitive nature of university. University really weeds out the weak from the strong and many universities depend on your own studying. Community college is supposed to help your prepare for university better and makes the transition smoother for you, but the difference between CC and university is also still a big gap.

The advantages of CC are that you save a lot of money and get your GE courses done and it'll be easier for you to get into a university than a freshman. The disadvantage is that it might take a while for you to get used to the more competitive and fast-paced environment. It's not a bad choice if it's one you're willing to make though.

I would personally go straight to university because my pride doesn't allow me to go through CC first and because I can, I guess. Shrug. I was accepted into a university so to me, it's saying that I have the potential to survive in that setting since most CC students are ones who didn't get in to university or can't afford it, plus I know what I want to do with my life and my major. Many CC students don't know right away so CC helps them figure our their interests at their own pace.

From my experience, I went from high school to a university. The transition was quite....different and it took awhile to adjust. But I love going to a university, the campus is so big you hardly see anyone, and classes are more challenging...etc. And when I took a community college class over the summer, I felt like I was back in high school all over again. The teacher was so easy on their students, tests were super easy, etc.

But in the end, it depends on your own preference. Whichever school you like more and wherever you're comfortable of going to first. biggrin.gif
