Last year on August, 6th. I had an ACL reconstruction on my left knee. I Just had my first game (Rugby League) and i played for the full game. But During the game i twisted my knee again except this time i think i didnt do anything because i was still running for the rest of the game (running and tackling). The next day i woke up and my knee was so swollen and i've been swimming, doing weights and all and the swelling has gone down. Now, when i do butt kicks at training it kills =\ and my physio therapist seems to think my new reconstructed graft is loose?
any suggestions guys?
Experiences and all?
for anyone who hasnt had a knee reco before its a tough mental rehab... lol.

i got a Hamstring Graft. its been 9 months since my op and i was in shape and everything but this time when i twisted it again it didnt hurt? the first time i got tackled i heard a really loud pop and i just dropped to the ground screaming and i tried running the 2nd half but my knee felt like it was moving away from my tibia which scared me. Now i've training 2night but since i twisted it again and it feels good just for some pain.. Hmm i guess i should go for another MRI. they cost so much money though T.T

ive heard some cases where people tear their acl and they didnt even know, so yeah you can never be too safe. it would be better to check it out.
i got the cadaver option. its interesting to know that my acl is not my acl hahaha, rather, someone else's ankle tendon o.O

aww dude =\ isn't it called allograft? where they take an ligament from a dead corpse. i been reading and people seem to think that its not safe =\
i just need some sort of advice and i wanna hear other peoples stories. I'm Only 18 now too physio reckons i should take extra care cause im still to young. i hope i just pinched the cartilage meniscus or even i would prefer to go for an arthroscope. its scary to think about going through exactly the same thing twice except the 2nd time around is a lot more difficult and painful

2nd time around is also not as successful as the first time around.
well people dont think having the allograft is a good choice because of the risk of transmitted diseases and such, when actually the % of this happening is extremely low because of the screening/freezing procedures that the harvesting companies use nowadays.

nice question apple i think u should get it checked out first. if u have a sprained acl u can just rest it for a couple of weeks let it heal then go back to practice but if u have torn it (i tore my acl n my mcl) u have the option to live without a acl or get it replaced with ligament in ur body for example ur upper hamstring because that muscle doesnt really do ne thing so i had mine replaced with that. then there is the question u might have partically torn it den u have 2 options to if u want to it to heal faster but work ur butt off during rehab then you get sugery done on it but if ur kind the of person who wants it to heal naturally and work it on less den u can let it heal for about 3 months.
also about rehab it depends on the injury i just got out of rehab like 3 weeks because i had partically torn my hamstring and rehab wuz hard very had because i had done surgery on it and had to get that muscle strenght back to where it wuz.
rehab for a acl injury IS A PAIN =( but my advice is get it checked out first and tell me the injury and i can give u more good advice for u.

I've torn my ACL twice and I hope you haven't re-torn it. I did pretty much what you did which was play sports within a year of the first reconstruction. I probably rushed it rather than making sure my knee was 100% (although my doctor and physio both cleared me for casual sports). I would say you need to take an MRI and quickly figure out what's going on.
The 1st time I got a patellar graft.
The 2nd time I got a hamstring graft.
My doctor said that if I tore it a 3rd time they might have taken the patella or hamstring out of the good leg to fix the bad one.
The rehab is much easier the 2nd time around but honestly my knee was never the same. After my second ACL tear I really haven't had the same strength or explosiveness out of my leg. Having a weak knee for so long has really made it difficult to be 100% back too... I still tend to overcompensate for it.
My 2nd doctor has also issued me a lifetime ban on full contact sports so I won't tear it a 3rd time.
