BEFOR YOU POST: NO BASHING!!! My intention when I posted this was not to encourage it and I don't want this to be closed! The first few repliers have brought this to my attention that some fans may take this personally and end up giving some harsh comments. PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT. I put this up to inform those who don't know and get insight. If you're going to post and state an arguement (i.e:SM will win...etc.), have some backup to your talk so you're not just another fangirl who defends and attacks other bands w/o getting to know them first.

As you some of you may have realized or heard by now, there's war coming to the Korean music industry. Why? Well, when DSP Entertainment's new 6-member boyband declared "Defeat Super Junior" as their goal, there was a whole bunch of counterattacks by ELFs all over the world. In addition to this, it seems that SS501 is also stepping it up (to DBSK and in general). DSP seems to be recklessly taking on some of the biggest names in the biz but to some people, like me, it actually seems worthwhile.

The k.music industry has been ruled by SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment for a long time with no real new faces or boybands (this excludes solo artists like Rain and Se7en) that have debuted and made a shockwave thru the industry like DBSK did years back (Big Bang is getting popular, but nothing scandalous like this has happened to them yet...i think, correct me if I'm wrong). Even though it's not the same kind of shockwave DBSK left, it's definately got the attention of an anticipating audience, including me.

I'm entralled and impressed by A'st1's multilingual fluency before coming in as opposed to getting fluent as they work (yes, I'm referring to Jang Ri In and Han Kyung whose lack of fluency has made for some harsh criticisms). They also have amazing musical&dancing skills that, put together with their unusual tall physique and great looks, seem like the start of something big but whether DSP will play their cards right to make this work, we'll all have to wait and see.

P.S: I am a fan of DBSK and Super Junior, so don't get any ideas that I'm posting this for any ill-intended purposes.

that's true. lsm isn't gonna take this hit sitting down. it's just started, so i wonder what he'll do about A'st1.

the fans...can be scary. i haven't heard much about what ELF has done, but it's really intense. If Suju was strong, which they are, A'st1 wudn't effect them much but they really are a threat!

I can't wait until they debut. I heard they were gonna add another member...here's the article:

DSP Entertainment is set to unleash at the end of this month a male group composed of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese members.

The 6-male group is called AST1 and is composed of Korean members Park Jung Jin (22), Byun Jang Moon (21), Sung In Kyu (21) and Lim Han Byul (20), Japanese member Tomo (22) and Chinese member Haiming (22). A single will be released at the end of March or in April, DSP revealed on March 3. The singles title track is called 1234Back, which was composed by Han Sung Won, the one who made Park Ji Huns The Day I Miss You.

According to DSP, which aims to make AST1 an idol group that will represent Asia, the members received 3 years training in Korea to prepare for their debut. The label also boasts that the group has already received requests to appear in television shows in Hong Kong and China.

After the group debuts, DSP plans on adding a new member to AST1.

On the other hand, from March 12, Arirang TV is going to air videos of the groups training days and debut preparations.

woah! you're startin' a war now...hehehe
I've been into DSP now hehehe knowing KARA, Fin.K.L & Hyori
But all I want is their music not the popularity hehehe
and maybe I'm into their looks but it really depends on how they make their music in the industry.

Hope DSP will rock this year! hehehe
and of course Sooman will not let this happen I bet hehehe TVXQ is still popular
I don't know I'm living in another country that's what I'm just thinking about smile.gif
No one knows the future smile.gif

hehe. i didn't mean to! XD lol.

but seriously, the big names like Suju and DBSK, they're releasing new music and all, but it's all following a pattern (at least a pattern I can see) so, for me, it's been getting a bit boring. That's probably why I'm so phsched about A'st1.

Either way if they beat DBSG or Suju at something(highly unlikely)
DBSG has made history in Japan and is one of the most
loved boybands along with Suju.haha but thanks for the update
though I'm not a big fan of either bands still interesting info.

edit: and yes I agree with you it's all like a pattern never
anything new...(just my opinion people don't bash)

no actually ss501 and A'1st came right out and said they want to defeat/beat dbsk and suju (respectively) ph34r.gif. that sounds pretty war-like to me...

i'm doubtful of dsp's management...they've had bands that had a lot of potential but their failure to properly promote and manage them has caused many of their bands to ultimately do not so great and disband

@ hyuksu:
you're probably right for the most part, but the fans play a big part since their the ones that dictate sales. we're their fans, but we're also their customers so it's important to know what we think.

@raiseplus:
I know what u mean, sm has so much power, right? but everyone in the biz hopes to make it big, wheter it's the artists or the people behind them. take me for example. when i get into the biz, i don't just want to produce some unknown. i want to make a star. it's just how it is.

I'm on SM's side. What's up with A'ST1?
I don't know if they'll turn out good or not but when you debut, I don't think you should pick on the larger groups straight away.
Isn't that unpsetting some of the fans?

I don't think DSP can beat SM.

Even SS501, they still can't make it big, I mean like Lies and Tell me do.

DSP should find the Hit song for their own to make it "Talk of the Town".

I like DSP Entertaiment being competitive...unfortunately,SM Entertainment always win.
I don't blame the boys (not even their idea) but I'm loving the SM boys more wub.gif

SM has been and is the most successful entertainment in Korea...
its not surprising to have other entertainments trying to be or compete with SM.
they too want to be sucessful to bring and groom out the best in their trainees or current singers.

sorry if i hurt anyone...it's just my point of view
it's good to have competition...it's where you'll improve
if not you'll just stay at the same level...

It is upsetting ALOT of fans, but their ambition is normal for artists, singers, dancers, etc. Like I said, the production company is also to blame. All the decisions, in the end, are theirs. I really think the boys in A'st1 are just like Super Junior and DBSK; they just love music and dance, so the fans should realize this.

I really don't think so either, but I'm hoping so. For the sake of A'st1 and asia. They're one of the first groups whose intention from the beginning was this ambitious and they're not just all koreans, but from different countries. Race has slowly becoming a big factor in a group's potential.

yea, i agree. if anything, the fans should be happy that their boys will improve and get better this way, right? besides, if they're really great this won't hurt them at all.
