Some of you remember what had happened to my car. My car was innocently and legally parked one night and the next morning... well its gone and into a insurance nightmare (which I was and still am fighting the other guy's insurance company).

Well two months has passed and the insurance hell has not ended. Only now are they going to start writing the check and take away my beloved 850. First I want to pay tribute to my 850...

June 27, 2005 - February 11, 2008:

Introducing my new ride, the 1998 Volvo S70 T5! It was priced right and after test driving it, i decided this was the car...

And my Volvo adventure begins again... repairing this and that, chasing down boost issues, maintanance DIY laugh.gif .
At least this time i'm packing a 236HP (243ft/lbs Torque) turbocharged 5 cylinder engine. Puts some fun back into driving...
a worthy successor to my old car.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

I find it especially entertaining when I switch off traction control and slam the gas.... torque steer! Insanely dangerous, but still interesting....

The car will be turning 200K miles in 41 more miles. The engine and tranny is original. No oil leaks (surprisingly), or boost issues (yet), but I still have to work on cleaning up the engine bay. I cleaned it with some simple green and paper towels in the pic, and still have quite a bit of a way to go. It was caked in dust and dirt when I got it. Timing belt right now is top priority as this is a interference engine...

During the 1.5 months of this insurance hell and no car, I was kind of pissed to think about how the kid who hit my car probably has his car repaired and driving around, while I got nothing, no insurance check and no car....

The other day, I found that kid's car! The dead give away was the paint looking a bit odd (from the repaint of the bumper and other parts of the rear body) and other factors, like the dealer plate and the year of the car. His car was a blue 2004 Honda Accord which was bought from a local dealer a week prior to the accident. I was so filled with rage when I found it, I was even thinking of stopping my car, getting out and grabbing the breaker bar from the back of my car and doing something harsh. When I parked my car, I walked up to the car discretely and compared it to the VIN number I found from the police report filed... it was a match. I did no harm to his car... yet.

I just pisses me off to think about my old car and how its life came to a end:

If I didn't say it earlier, I found in the police report that he was backing out of his parking spot on the other side of the street. I think he came out at a shallow angle, tried to correct it and instead of pressing the brakes, he pressed the gas, backing into our cars. I'm not suprised that he would confuse the pedals, because he just turned 18 and had just bought the car about a week or less prior to this accident. I never drive directly into my parking spot on this hill, because its hard on the brakes backing down and down right dangerous to going in reverse on this hill. I always back into my spot so I have full control when I pull out of it.

I would be even more devastated if this was a hit and run...

Any car with 200k miles is something I'd be a bit paranoid with, but it sounds like you know how to take care of that baby. Good to see that you've found another one and I hope it turns out to be a good find.

Congrats!

I used to own a 94 Volvo 850, before I got my TSX in 2006.

I loved that car to death, the build quality and reliability was unbelievable.
By far one of the most solid cars ever built. Stock transmission went until 250k miles,
and sold it when reached 350k miles.

Enjoy the new ride!

200,000 miles! WOOT!

I already applied for the cheezy Volvo High Mileage club and should be getting the ugly 200,000 mile achievement badge soon... lol laugh.gif .

I purposely drove the car on the city streets just to be able to capture this moment...

What kind of badge do you get? Like something for the cubical or a decal badge for your car? 200k... nice. I only hit 100k not too long ago. cool.gif
