well. so. my computer wouldnt let me log in. the user name thingy at the very begninning , where you type your password. well it works up to that part. and then whenever i enter my password, the computer wont let me go any further. LIKE not even my desktop or anything. so i cant do anything. and then this thing pops up:

WINDOWS PRODUCT ACTIVATION

A Problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the licence for this computer. Error Code : 0x80070002

SO. DOes anyone know what that means? cuz i have no clue what so ever. and then at the bottom there like --ok-- and then i press it and it goes back to my original "log in" page. and i use windows xp if that helps .

THXS. so much to who ever wants to help. tears.gif

--> ok so i found out that this windows activation thing is something to prevent copying it or something, but the thing is, you need to activate this when you actually get a new computer or new windows. and the reason why it doesnt work anymore, i think is because i deleted it by accident.. :S

----------- welll i did some research. i think that this is the ting.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;310794

BUT. i dont know wtf all of this is. theres like a lot of um "solutions" but i dont know which one to use. really confusing. and i need my comp back on asap. PLS HELP. THXs.

so does anyone know how to get it back on.???

looks like the timebomb kicked in because you didnt activate your windows.

is telling you to either reset your registry or reset the hdd drive letter.

what did you do before this?

Reset the default security provider in Windows XP
To reset the default security provider in Windows XP, delete the relevant registry keys in the Windows registry. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Start the computer. Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in Safe mode.
2. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
3. Delete the following registry keys in the Windows registry:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
4. Quit Registry Editor.
5. Restart the computer.

Reset the drive letter of the system drive
Use Registry Editor to change the drive letter of the system drive back to its original value. Edit the following registry key to change the value of the system drive:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices
For additional information and steps detailing the exact procedure to rename the system drive letter, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

well i didnt do much but i was doing some computer "clean up" and cleanning some junk. and a folder named like systems/32 or something came up and there were some files there that i didnt think i need and deleted them. SO, i might have deleted something there that i shouldnt have, cuz i usually dont delete things from there. so ya. and um how do you get from step one to step two?

LOL! dont ever touch files in /WINDOWS/ and /WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 !! files in there are vital to make windows work.

did your computer come with legal version of windows? you might need to restore/reactivate?
