i've had Keratosis Pilaris ever since i was 11 and i'm so desperate to get rid of it
it's so frustrating because nothing seems to work!

any of you guys have it and successfully got rid of it?

in case someone doesn't know what it is

From wikipedia:

QUOTE
Keratosis pilaris (KP) is a very common genetic follicular condition that is manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin and hence colloquially referred to as "chicken skin" as well as "meat bumps". It most often appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms (though the lower arms can also be affected), and can also occur on the thighs and tops of legs, flanks, buttocks or any body part except glabrous skin (like the palms or soles of feet). Less commonly, lesions appear on the face and may be mistaken for acne.

i have had it ever since i was little. i have tried various creams and lotions. i have been self-conscience about it pretty much my whole life. however, after i realized that so many other people have it, and i am wasting time (worrying over it) and money, i have started wearing shorts and capris in public.

I have it too and it prevents me from wearing sleeveless tops.
I try to stop myself from being self-conscious but I can't, especially when my friends ask me what those bumps are T_T
I would really appreciate it if someone could give us some tips on how to cure it.

They say that scrubbing and moisturizing helps the apperance. As for cure, I don't think there is one. They say it gradually fade away as you age. It's perfectly normal. I have mild KP on my buttlocks. ph34r.gif

ahh I have it tooo!
it kinda lowered my self esteem, especially when someone questions you about it after feeling the rough dots on your skin.. :sweatingbullets:
I have it on my arms and thighs so I never feel comfortable enough to wear any tanks or shorts :[

edit: I realized that bathing in the sun somehow helps my kp. Not sure if its because you get darker so the dots are less visible...

Oh my gosh, I was just going to make a thread on this XD

Well, I've had it...since forever.

It's barely visible on my arms but my legs. OMG. There's red dots everywhere and I'm so angry.
I did some research and most just said Exfoliate + moisturize. I heard it's good to use body washes with AHA

A lot of people with KP recommend Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Body Creme. I'm located in Canada so I'm currently trying to find it.

I have had it for many years now. Apparently, there is no KNOWN cure for it yet. But different people have found different ways to cure it. It does go away with age but not for everyone. For those of us who are unlucky, I guess we have to learn to deal with it.

It has been a burden to have these years. Everyone used to be afraid to go near me. Oh boy. Now, people don't care. Haha. That helps a lot. I don't really care either. I really want to get rid of them though. I'd almost do anything. This is a personal wish.

Really?
Are you sure that what he had was keratosis pilaris?
Because if he did have it, then I guess I could go to the pool most of the time, especially now that it's summer here.

everyone should try AHA lotion in 15% or 20%! i have it too and after i used this lotion and doing dry exfoliating, my bumps and the appearance of the bumps went down dramatically! it will take months but its worth it. i had all over under my arms, now its smootherand skins even out.. i used to do this everyday .. but i kinda stopped for months now.. i should be doing it again but im so lazy to now.. hehe
