as of right now, i'm in 8th grade, and over the summer i'm going to move to a school, and a fairly good one. my choices are all blue ribbon awarded schools, and top 20 schools in the state. and as of right now, i go to a small school, 480 students? 7-12 grade, and its an OKAY school, but i cant stand living here anymore.
and my grades are fair..i've never failed these 2 years, and i've gotten into the highest honor roll 3 times in 2 years.
and i got into honors spanish 3 (i lived in latin america for a little) and world history honors.
and i don't get too many projects (i like projects) and i barely get hw.

and basically, my dreammm is to live the DREAM of being rich; good christian; and famous; and travel around the world.
to become rich, i'd like to own my own record company like virgin records and expand, like that UK dude.
BUSINESS is going to be my major wen i go to college and my choices are NYU STERN, UPENN WHARTON, Columbia.
and i no i gotta start BUSTING MY ASS to get into these colleges, and GRADUATE.
but, with the lack of my school, with the no hw, projects, and laid back teaching, idk wat will happen wen i go to a top school.
how can i start NOW, and get my habits straight...

my motto: study and work hard and play semi-hard.

If you're motivated like this throughout high school and college and after college, you'll be sure to succeed, and you'll be my idol for sure.

I would hang out with other older high achieving straight A students to learn their habits. My daddy has this philosophy that life's about copying people. The dude that does any said "thing" the best does it the best because he worked hard copying and learning what the previous best guy's ways. So yeah. And... in my school we allow younger students to sit in on classes as long as they're not disruptive or heck even people from the same grade that don't have the same teacher. To do this in my school they have to do all the same work teh regular students have to do. If you can't, you can start self-studying the harder courses in your school. Ask some older students for their notes for classes they already took. (since if they're taking it now they won't give you their tests notes etc.). Hence the secret of skipping entire grades in math Q.E.D. This is a clinically tried and proved method. lol jk. Lots do this actually, but they're not out and about about it that's all. This ain't no secret.

Stack up on interstate/national/regional competitions. Brush up on your skills in art or whatever. Meet new people. New friends=mad connections. You'll need 'em specially if you wanna go into business (I don't specifically mean those connections, but practice networking etc. start your wide network of friends now.). Though I don't know this from experience I do personally know and are related to two fund managers (my third cousin, alumni of my school and his wife UPenn Wharton grad, they live in Manhattan and work somewhere in Wall Street) and my cousin in WI who's a consultant. So yeah. Open your possibilities. Although this may sound manipulative try making as many smart friends as possible. (Smarter than you if possible.) Remember work hard k? set goals if you have to. I did. Now I have a career goal.

good luck, but don't limit yourself to only the recording industry. there's plenty of other ways to make money. if you really want to be rich, look towards investment banking. bust your ass off in your 20's, work your way up until you're 30. by then, you'll have enough money to retire AND know enough powerful people to keep earning money during your 'retirement.' that's what i would've done if i went back to college.

its 8th grade. relax...
but what i would do is go to the library, get a textbook, and start training myself to take notes.
when you bust your butt in highschool, you'll know when you are..
take other people's advice in here.. i dont really know how you should start training yourself and trying to get ready for the competitive schools.
since its the top 20 in the state, you should keep in mind that if you want to go to those big schools, be very well rounded.
by that i mean, GOOD grades will not get you to those colleges you want ;] unless your a genius.
do EXTRA CURRICULARS, those will make you stand out. extracurriculars, as in a club or a sport

well thats all the advice i can give you right now smile.gif sorry... i'm just finishing up freshman year biggrin.gif !

Why cry? I'm a stronger girl now because of you. So, why cry?

Well, you're certainly starting early!!! biggrin.gif It's not always a bad thing, but just make sure you keep your motivation up throughout high school. I wanted to achieve a lot going into high school too, but I slacked off really quickly after it started and by the time I started pulling myself together junior year, it was too late.

Aren't you still in eighth grade? Of course your courses are going to be pretty easy then. Things get a lot tougher in high school once you start taking some AP courses. If those aren't enough for you, you can start by taking community college courses. They'll prepare you for university and give you credit. ^^ And yes, start doing extracurriculars.

Hmm, my advice would be study as much as you can and hang out with competitive people~ haha, my friends and I made it into a competition to see who could get the highest score... I was always second ): But it made me work even harder so that I could beat #1! ;D But yeah.. as long as you stay motivated, you can become successful. Also, do a little extracurricular. Since you want to have a good life and be a good Christian (as stated in your post), maybe you could do some volunteering for community service? Those types of things will help you grow personally, stand out to colleges, and give you something to write about in those college essays (lol).

As for your college goals, since you want to be in business you will need an MBA or other equivalent degree (such as MIB or MSF, depending on what you want to do), so if you don't get into NYU or UPenn right away, THAT'S OKAY! Your undergrad really doesn't matter anyway. In fact, I would recommend that unless you get a really good financial aid package, you steer clear from NYU... you'll be in debt forever by the time you're done with your masters! Some people will disagree with me, but that's my personal opinion. [I want to go to an Ivy League for grad school, so I decided to stay in the public school system until I get there so that I'll have money for it o.x;]

Good luck!
