Yahhh. I know what you mean.
I'm not Korean but it's weird when I see non koreans say all those terms XD
And when they try to fit korean into their vocabulary and use random words they know in their sentence.
I find it kind of wannabe-ish
But it doesn't bother me much XD

I usually incorporate korean vocabulary into the things i say, but it's only to two of my friends.
They know I'm trying to study/learn the language and won't judge me on stuff like saying unnie/oppa etc.
Plus, i only use those names for like gasoos except for a friend of mines.. i always call her halmoni.
She helps me with getting the Korean grammar down. laugh.gif
Anyways, i agree with the fact that it's kind of annoying since the majority is using it as some
sort of trend, but i don't think it's right to point fingers at every non-korean who says these things. happy.gif

Haha, this reminds me of those groups of DBSK starving fans who would always be like "JAEJAEJONGY OPPA!!!! SANRANGHAEYO!!!!! ANYONG!!"

Yeah~ that's annoying.

Other than that, to me it's the same as someone speaking a language not of their own. *shrugs*

Haha, that's really funny. I hear it all the time too o.x

Anyway~ I'm not Korean and I always find it kind of weird to say things like that for some reason~
For one thing I barely know any Korean at all (only basics) and I want to learn to form proper sentences first..!
Besides that, a lot of foreigners pronounce words wrong, and I don't want to embarrass people if I mess it up~
My boyfriend is Korean and he always tells me "You should call me Oppa sometime"
But I could never make myself do it
I would be like *mumblemumble* instead T___T;

When girls try to be super cute by saying Asian stuff in a high voice it annoys me
For example my friend told me about this one girl at my school who would run up to everyone randomly and be like "Hajimaaaaaa" in a high pitched voice.
It was really strange and annoying, especially since... she wasn't even really associating with them in the first place

As a korean, I really hate it when people say that. "Oh 동해 오빠 사랑해~~~!" is so annoying.

It is Korean for a reson, only Korean people should say it. Just like how only Japanese people should say "-san""-kun" or "kawaii~~~!!"

Leave the terms to the people. Maybe I just hate wannabes.

I'm not korean, but I usually use oppa to annoy this guy at school who's korean. He used to find it annoying at first, now he just got used to it so every time i scream oppa at him, he just waves. sweatingbullets.gif then there's also my friends that call me unnie..

My korean friends (or most of them) don't find it annoying at all actually...one of them even asked me 'oh you like korean stuff' when i said yeah he told me not to be embarrassed and it's ok because he likes it.. ph34r.gif i got weirded out by what he said..and now he says i am 'korean-washed'.. ph34r.gif

I only use one of those terms online, and it's unnie :P I use it as a sign of 'respect' to those who are older than me XD

But in real life? Nahh, I don't use it. It sounds weird coming from me ROFL

The only reason people use it is because they heard their singer idols like "DBSK, Super Junior, ect ect" use them. I am willing to BET that peole do it only for this reason, not because they enjoy Korean Cultures.

i totally know what u mean!
i'm not Korean, but i'm still Asian myself. I don't see Chinese or other asians using their own language of 'brother' or 'sister' to address other people. but Koreans do. cuz i always hear the doing that, and i know some Korean, and after hearing their conversation a little I realised that they're just friends/acquaintances. i thought u only use it only if u're close to the person or if the person is in ur family.

Ahhh .. that's like me. I sometimes cringe when people try to talk in Chinese or Vietnamese when they don't know what it means. It's funny but seriously, if you don't understand it or whatever don't speak it.

I only use these terms with close friends...and that's like...only my sister. LMAO. But I usually call her imouto (or mouto) rather than dongsaeng. o___O;;; I get annoyed when my sister uses umma and appa for my mom and dad. So I concur and say 'txiv' and 'nam.' smile.gif

I concur. Only dense people do this and only dense people think this. biggrin.gif Besides, I got these terms from stories and dramas. Not from singing idols. It's not like Super Junior or DBSK say, "Noona, saranghae~!" in their songs...ToT;;
