Hey guys, I've read around and noticed that the Nikon D40x is a good choice for a beginner. My price range is a maximum of 1000$, and I really want to own my first DSLR for a long time (5 years +) will this be a good model to go with? Do you think it'll continue to stay a great camera throughout the years when being compared to newer models?
Sorry for the questions, hope they dont seem silly I'm pretty new at this stuff. >< If i'm going to be spending alot I want it to live up to how much Im buying it for haha

I was juggling between D40/D40X and my friend convinced me to get the D40.
The biggest difference between D40 and 40X is the 6MP vs 10MP.
Megapixels is basically a marketing scheme. If you don't know much about megapixels, then you should definitely research it.
If you're willing to throw out $1,000 on your first DSLR, I would just go with something better to begin with.. like a 40D.

With $1000, I would get a Canon EOS 30D and a $200 lens... maybe save up for 50mm f/1.4 or something. The D40x is not recommended - save money and get the D40 instead.
