Has anybody read or watched the lecture? I watched it in the morning before I went to school and after school, I checked my email and Borders sent me an email about this book. Talk about fate~ xDD I put this book on hold at my library and found out that I am number twenty-one on the waiting list!! ㅡ.,ㅡ Well, this book is new after all. I probably wouldn't be getting this book this month ㅠ0ㅠ Randy Pausch is diagnosed with terminal cancer, he did surgery, which allows him to live for three to six more months. My favorite quote from the video: "So my next piece of advice is, you just have to decide if you're a Tigger or and Eeyore. [shows slide with an image of Tigger and Eeyore with the phrase "Decide if you're Tigger or Eeyore"] I think I'm clear where I stand on the great Tigger/Eeyore debate. [laughter] "
Sorry if this was posted before >0<

Title The Last Lecture
Author Randy Pausch
Publication Date April 8, 2008
ABOUT THE BOOK
http://www.thelastlecture.com/aboutbk.htm

"On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams. With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. On the stage that day, Randy was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged.

Randys lecture has become a phenomenon, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities. And now, in his book based on the now-famous lecture, Randy goes even deeper to inspire us all."

About Randy Pausch

"Randy Pausch is dying; his spirit never will. Diagnosed with terminal cancer, Pausch gave a talk at Carnegie Mellon University that was so inspired, so moving, so positive in the face of things beyond his control, that the video became an internet sensation. In 'The Last Lecture', Pausch expands on those ideas to offer a simple, earnest account of the thingshe holds dear. This isn't a book about how to die. It's a book about how to truely live"

"Randy Pausch is a professor of Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, and Design at Carnegie Mellon University. From 1988 to 1997, he taught at the University of Virginia. He is an award-winning teacher and researcher, and has worked with Adobe, Google, Electronic Arts (EA), and Walt Disney Imagineering, and pioneered the non-profit Alice project. (Alice is an innovative 3-D environment that teaches programming to young people via storytelling and interactive game-playing.) He also co-founded The Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon with Don Marinelli. (ETC is the premier professional graduate program for interactive entertainment as it is applies across a variety of fields.) He lives in Virginia with his wife and three children."

I listened to his lecture on Time Management yesterday. It is really sad that he is dying yet doing so much for himself, his family and the rest of the world. He is just so darn optimistic.
I have yet to find time to watch his 'last' lecture.
But he is a great professor, smart and funny. I always get boring professors.
I hope he lives as long as possible and possibly a miracle for his family, especially his sons and friends.

i just watched the whole lecture today, when i came across this link
and i'm just here to say, that this was definitely worth it
it was so inspirational, and it really made me think about things like how you shouldn't give up so easily
and "brick walls" are there to show our dedication.
it's so sad that he's leaving us all, or has he already left? coz he gave the speech in september, and he only said he had 3-6 months
he's such a great man, who's really made his life the best that it can be
all my wishes go out to his family, and the second "head fake" was really genuine

i'm searching for this book, they're on order at my local bookstores mellow.gif
i would've looked for this sooner if i knew he had pancreatic cancer.
my own father just passed away from it. randy is a fighter, he's survived a while longer than most cases i've heard.

I had no idea it was a book too. I watched this lecture like 4-5 months ago and I was crying the entire time. His story and spirit is so empowering! It is so sad that he has such a young family and wife. Is he getting better?
