I'm in the last couple of months with my braces on.
So far I'm happy with how it looks from the frontside. Everything LOOKS good and straight. smile.gif
But when I feel the backside of my teeth with my tong, it's not totally straight. And I get it's not supposed to be all straight. It's just that there is still 1 upper left tooth (next to the frontteeth) that is still kinda off (like that it has not changed it's position much since I got the braces). My orthodontist told me that it will change, but I'm not that positive since I only got 2 maybe 3 months left and the gaps from the pulled out teeth are filled and my wisdom teeth are coming out. Also, the other side already did change months ago and aligned the way I wanted.

So I'm thinking that my teeth will most likely stay that way. Not that it's really bad, since my teeth already LOOKS good, it's just that, you know, when you know it could be even better, since you already got the braces unsure.gif .....
(Also, I was thinking that in the future that tooth might shift more quickly so I might need braces again, but my ortho told me that I will get a wire behind my teeth that will make my teeth stop shifting.)

So my question to you:

Are you COMPLETELY and TOTALLY happy with how your teeth turned out because of your braces?
For example: is there a tooth that could be straighter? Be as nitpicky as you'd like.. phew.gif

I've had braces and they got last year out. Now my teeth are ~Beautiful~ except they seem somewhat a bit like Horse Teeth, standing so out. I mean the upper teeth row. And my under teeth row (lol) is starting to change but my doc told me that and now I have a loose brace that I wear in the night and 3 hours in the afternoon to prevent them from shifting and to let the teeth get used to the new position. But I'm not statisfied with my little horse teeth. He says it'll go away but...-.- well I'm not sure. But it's a lot better than at the beginning just after my brace was out (I had so horse teeth >.<)
Just keep getting on your docs nerves some more to ask specifially because it's your teeth and your money and you're right, if you're at it, you should do it prefectly smile.gif

How old are you?

I had braces for about 3 years but I had to get braces solely for medical reasons (my teeth were too big and my jaw too small so they had to move them around to create enough space for my molars once they started growing in).

I'm actually not completely happy with the way they turned out because my two top front teeth (y'know.. the big "beaver" teeth on the top?)... one of them is slighly "longer" than the other. It wasn't like this before, but as they shifted and stuff, my ortho may have tightened it too much and caused that tooth to shift downward a bit so it's not completely even. It's really not noticeable; I only notice cause it's MY teeth, y'know? Plus, my teeth aren't completely perfectly straight, but they're straight enough, y'know? If I had solely gotten my teeth straightened for cosmetic reasons, I'd probably be more upset. But since I didn't... I'm actually not quite as upset as I could be. Would I like it if my teeth *were* perfectly straight? Of course. But I think a *little* crookedness is natural and... I'm all about natural... so now I just concentrate on whitening..!

(( Oh, I should note: that if it wasn't for my medical reasons, my teeth -- at least the top row, my bottom row was a little messy -- probably didn't need braces. So it probably varies on the degree of your crookedness before braces. I've had friends who had *really crooked* teeth and even after braces they're still not like "model perfect," but they're certainly an improvement from before. ))

My teeth were always straight, even before braces, but I had a slight overbite. I got 4 adult teeth removed before I got braces in order to have space for my wisdom teeth to grow in later. After I got my braces off, my teeth were perfect. A few years after I got my braces taken off though, all 4 of my wisdom teeth grew in and screwed up my teeth!! I'm so mad now. I still need to get my wisdom teeth removed (no rush, and also I'm scared... heh). But I'm thinking about getting braces again, invisalign maybe.

I just got my braces off last week. I'm not totally satisfied, because my teeth are abnormally small, and I was born without both permanent vampire teeth (I had to get the baby ones extracted, and a gap was left). So the ortho had to move my whole top row of back teeth up a tooth slot to fill that gap (ARGH!) and there's still a tiny gap, because my teeth are so small that I have to get them bonded to look "normal". So no, I'm not happy. My teeth are so retarded. And my gums were swollen like crazy because they did more than usual to my braces. I wish my front teeth were bigger =( AND they put a freaking wire behind my two front teeth to keep them from moving. Gosh.

I'm 22, I was 20 when I got the braces (19 months ago).
Yes, I know, older then usual, but I'm pretty fine with my age. In high school I wouldn't have had the confidence to get the braces (and I was/am really scared of the dentist). And I already got 4 teeth pulled out for the braces, so now my wisdom teeth, which is coming out, can stay in and get used to the rest of the teeth while having the braces. Only big con for me is that I have to pay for my braces myself (well only a quarter, my insurance pays the rest), where as in highschool my parents' insurance would've done that.

Actually I was supposed to get my braces out in jan/feb, then march, then april and now in a couple of months sleep.gif . I only dealt with soms crookedness (especially next the frontteeth up and down) and a big overbite. And everything shifted actually quite fast in the beginning, but now everything is so slow. I just wished that that 1 tooth would just move already. (But I'm still happy with how my teeth look in overal)

Is the wire behind your teeth not good? Apparantly in the Netherlands (where I live) orthodontist always put a wire behind your teeth after braces. Only on Soompi I heard that for example people in the States get some containerthing for the nights.

i had braces for approx 3 years in HS. I'm semi satisfied with the outcome of my teeth...they weren't extremely crooked but they did need fixing but i have a chip in my front tooth from a train accident when I was like 11 or 12... and my teeth aren't small but they aren't big enough to look better in my mouth either lol.

I had braces for a long time before I had them taken out. It's been so long that I can't remember how long I had them, maybe 4 years? I had several teeth removed when I was young. I'm satisfied with my results. My teeth are straight so there isn't anything I can complain about. Did they give you a retainer to wear? I had to wear my retainer for a few years after my braces were removed so that the teeth would stay in position and not shift around. Technically I'm still supposed to be wearing it but I don't and my teeth are still fine.

My younger brother had the worst teeth. He had an underbite and had to wear a bite plate for a while to fix it. His teeth weren't aligned correctly either so he had to get braces too. Later, his top left incisor grew out way higher than where it was supposed to be (near the gum part) and he had to have surgery to cut the gum for the tooth to grow in the right place. He had a braces at the time so he had to have a small chain connected to the tooth and the braces and gradually drag the tooth down after a period of time by shortening the chain. It was hideous for a time, but his teeth are fine now. It's just that if he smiles too widely, you can see part of the white root of the tooth where the gum was cut. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't stress too much about your teeth shifting a little. Just make sure to let your dentist know your concerns and they should be able to help you out in accordance to what you want. After all, you pay them right? smile.gif

No. My teeth are still not completely straight. It's not that noticeable, but when I look at my teeth in the mirror, I notice, because I can feel it and everything. But I guess it's no big deal, however, I'm not completely satisfied with it.

is getting braces better than veneers?? is that what u call it??? like you just have to pay a visit 2-3 times and get perfect teeth?? (perfect ex: like hyunjun from ss501 and yunho from dbsk) is there a different in cost that why more ppl get braces instead?b/c for sure i know that getting braces takes longer

^ Veneers are supposed to be really painful because the dentist shaves down your teeth and puts on caps and then bonds them and they may have to do some work with your gums too to make sure your teeth are perfectly even.

The plus side is that it IS quick (about 2-3 visits and you will have perfect teeth), but I know Yunho says that if he's too tired, sometimes his veneers hurt... and your teeth are really sensitive for awhile. But they're like that with braces.

There's definitely a *huge* difference in getting veneers vs. braces, especially concerning price (depending on your braces, they can cost a lot less than veneers). Plus, braces sometimes may go under a "medical necessity" clause that your dental insurance may cover (like say: your teeth don't line up properly so they don't chew properly and you can't get proper nutrition, etc)... but veneers is obviously and distinctly and solely cosmetic. Veneers only fixes the APPEARANCE of your teeth, but doesn't really straighten them or anything; braces ACTUALLY move your teeth into correct alignment so they actually ARE straight (does that make sense?).

My teeth turned out perfect after the braces removal. I had them for about a 1 year and a half and had them taken off when I was a sophomore in high school.

The only thing I dislike about this is that fact that we have to wear retainers every night or so for the rest of our lives to ensure permanently straight teeth.
During one lazy week, I decided not to wear my retainers and I could already tell that my teeth were un-straightening ...

When I first got them off I was happy, but I have the wire at the back of my bottom teeth too, but I had to retainer on the top teeth. I got lazy and my teeth have shifted a bit, so yeah. Just stick to your retainer routine when you get them off and your teeth shouldn't move.
