Guys, my dad is thinking of switching insurance companies because his premiums are too high.

Which insurance company do you have now and which would you recommend? Also, please advise me on reasons for your pick.

We were thinking going with Liberty Mutual.

Thanks in advance.

Ensure that the company you are switching to is a reputible well known company.

Personally i'm with AAA, because they are a large corporation and they don't screw you (or the other person in the accident) over when it comes to a claim.

The reason why i'm with AAA and not some cheapie company is that I do care for my protection and liability coverage. Lots of smaller companies or particularly the ones that keep advertising cheap cheap cheap, make me worry, because i've seen many situations where when you get into a accident, they try to screw you over by not paying you back as much as you deserve. The worst case would be if they try to screw over the other party (in the event that you were at fault for a accident) and they don't get paid as much as they deserve. This is particularly dangerous, because then they can haul your rear to small or even large claims courts and sue you. Guess what, they can sue up to your net worth as long as they can provide substantial reasoning for the amount. This is why I make sure that I have sufficient liability coverage with a good company so that I don't have to worry too much about these horrible things that can happen.

I'm not about being cheap, i'm trying to save myself a lot of hassle here.

also companies who give lower rates have certain things in the fine print
such as using aftermarket replacement parts rather than oem parts, which personally i really dislike
so make sure u read the fine print and choose a reputible company

Almost 1k a year for how many cars?

If that's how much he paid for 1 car/yr, that's kinda on the expensive side.
My sister has Geico and she complains about it a lot, so IDK.

My husband and I have Progressive through a smaller franchise company (which a cousin of my husband's manages) and we pay about $1250/yr for 3 cars (full coverage).
So that's about a tad over $300 every 3 mos.
So far everything's fine and dandy, though we haven't run into any problems yet.

my parents recently changed insurance to 21st century and seems to be well. we tried progressive but rates were high, and then geico. the rates with geico were really low but as the months went, they started raising the rate until it got ridiculous so we switched to 21st century. Haven't had any accidents or anything so can't really tell how they're services are with that stuff.

from my experience (through my friends) wawanessa has the best service and good prices, the drawback is you cant have more than 2 or 3 points on your record.

I have Statefarm - full coverage, rates are bit high but it's worth it. Recently got into an accident, I wasn't at fault but Statefarm did their thing, good customer service and know what they're doing.

i'm under my parents insurace, is that worse than getting your own? i just got a job in a small town, (compared to nyc anyway) and i assume insurance is going to be much cheaper there so i plan to change it to my own.

from what i hear, wawanesea has probably the best rates you can get cuz they only operate in a few places and they only offer their insurance to very good drivers.

the cost of insurance varies and its just best to call a lot of them seeing who will give the best quote and price. no insurance company is the best as experience varies from ppl and states and its hard to choose as no insurance companies has positive reviews from everyone or even the majority of ppl as they are usually in the business for the money and once you get in an accident they show their true colors.
