I was thinking of doing early decision for nyu and some other schools
and i was just wondering...

if i send my applications earlier... do i have a greater chance?
or
are they more strict looking over applications since they only pick liek 25%..?

thanks in advance biggrin.gif

The applicant pool tends to be better hence the accpetance rate is higher (what schools say). But I think that it is higher if you apply early since you are bound to attend (I guess this only applies for Early Decision rather than Early Action) hence it increases the yield of the school making it looking better on college rankings.

Most schools say that you have about 50% (around that) chance of getting in when you do ED..
& you can't do another other ED if you're applying to NYU under ED. You can only have 1 ED.

i personally wouldn't recommend doing ED because you wouldn't know how your financial aid is. so when they accept you and give you crappy aid, you're still bound to them. =/

but if you do decide to do it, it helps a little, i would think, because the college would see that you're really interested in that school.

Actually if the financial aid is so bad you can back out without violating the contract.
But then again the financial aid may not be so great either... I guess it all depends where you plan to do ED. Places like NYU are a little on the bad side when in comes to financial aid.

Uh...you should ONLY apply to one school if you're planning on doing Early Decision, since it's binding.
I would recommend you only do early decision for your #1 school. The only good thing about applying early is that you can apply again if you get rejected.
