This is a generalization of what I have seen in majority of posts in Soompi
I'm sorry, but I had to say something about this... because it really irritates me.
The division between boy and girl is so strong in this forum it surprises me.
A lot of posts tend to separate girl and boy beauty, health, trends, behavior, etc. Then there are post that are created to subtly/passive aggressively 'bash' when typical male/female (especially male) images are not followed.
Examples would be such as: Boys with long hair, boys that shave, boys wearing make up, etc.
A lot of girls and guys tend to try to support their arguments with "Oh that is just weird" or "not hot" or "ugly" when these typical roles are done and "ADVISE" someone to change the look.
I understand when it just looks bad, but when someone advises simply because it doesn't fit the norm--it really irks me.
Or guys/girls saying that is weird when other 'dudes' shave their body-- because guys should just be natural and guys do not have *time* for that?
But, if a girl does the same, it is unfeminine and ugly/unattractive.
If a girl doesn't wear make up, most people tend to advise that she does. (and some guys who DO "need" it, are not advised to do so.)
When girls and boys ask whether they can use a product (hair product, dye, clothing, etc) that is directed towards the other sex...
It seems that a lot of people on this forum are extremely confined by gender roles and it is sad--it is sad that this mindset tends to reign in these forums.
I don't get it. Isn't it the 21st century?
Why is it this strong?
Sorry this may be unorganized and loose--It is just a rant that seemed to fall out of my hands in the midst of writing it.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't think it's as big a deal as what you think. It's just some basic sexism.
honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

It's what we're used to.
It's not really a bad problem, but this is the way we've been taught / brought up, and it's not too big of a deal.
We're just taking basic gender roles here (guys just do what they do, girls shave & put makeup on, etc.), & people are just saying what they think.
Not everyone feels the same way.

most of the guys dominate the sports section.
in truth, guys watch sports center at night to catch up in the sports world.
girls watch the hills?

Hm, I don't get the real problem to be honest. We're just used to it, and it doesn't seem wrong with it to me. It's just that there are indeed some 'girls things', while boys have their 'boys things'. I don't know how the explain it, but the society is just like this. And to an extent, I think it's normal.

it's the little things that differentiate different genders
if guys start taking some of girl traits/hobbies, and vice versa, then there's really no difference to personality between boys and girls
so if guys start wearing make up to look pretty, girls stop wearing make up to be more natural, will the gender roles switch? Will we all be the same in the end (besides physical body differences)?
I know what you're getting at, but boys and girls need their differences too D:
