so far ive narrowed it down to these cars: the NA miata, na sw20 mr2, and the ae86. Just want to know the ups and downs for these cars. I wanted cars that were lightweight and non turbo so i could drive everyday but i also wanted a daily driver where i could do some small mods to.

*edit: honestly, get something low profile. I chose a GSR and sometimes I wish I chose a civic. It's plenty fun as a DD, but a lot of people just feel the need to pick on integras

Tons of aftermarket parts, but I would say only the suspension mods are really worth adding. The 1.8 L has a bit more power but you really cant feel the difference. My friend who has the 1.6 L says his is better because it revs faster.... pfffft.
Great little cars, just don't drive it too hard, or else you wont get the 28 mpg highway. Cruising around 60-65 mph can get zzzzzz though, also the "65 shimmy" is kind of a pain in the arse, gotta make sure your tires are balanced.
Either get a 93 (1.6L) or the 94 (1.8L). The 93 was the latestt 1.6L motor, akira told me the previous year ones had a problem with the crankshaft. The reason i got a 94 was for the OBD 1 and it's the lightest out of the 1.8L's.
I love the Miata, im waiting for my shock mounts right now... got brand new FM springs, Tokico Illumina's and Fat Cat Motorsports shock mounts + bump stops, should handle muuuuuuch better.
Happy zoom zoom!

If you can find a good shape mr2, get it. I bought my Miata for around 2.8k, after registration, taxes, everything I paid around 3.1k. I'm sure you could find a NA one around that price.

I have only had one time when someone was picking on my Integra and it was this busted 88 Civic that I could tell was really slow. I passed him, and he floored it to get next to me and for the next mile, he continously reved at me.

That sorta defeats the purpose, I'm sure he wants to save gas rather then find another car to mod lol.

why is that? you say you hate hondas yet you give no reasoning behind that hate.
if you want a reliable daily and you care about gas mileage, the honda would be the way to go.

for all your socal performance needs

Yeah you are probably right. However, if the used car has around 100k+ miles, the shocks are either shot, or close to shot. Thats the reason I changed mine out. I wanted to upgrade and I didn't want to be riding on springs.
Miata suspension is cheap, quite a few dampers you can use your stock springs =)
