Lose 20 Pounds In 2 Months challenge!

IM SO SORRY.. but on account of my personal problems i will not be able to update the first post.. but please continue to post on this thread as i will also.. but at the end i will most definatly post our weight changes. thanks!

people below... please TRY to post everyday.. i probably wont either cuz everyday is kinda hard but as much as you can.

3.what you DRANK (try to drink about 6 bottles of water.. thats what a trainer told me at the gym today),

we will all WEIGH IN on april 23rd for our FIRST weigh in.. yes its not exactly a week for some people but thats what we are going to do.. those who are not active will get cut from the list & others will be added. thanks!

Truthfully i'm embarassed because i'm sure some of my friends go on soompi, and i dont want them to find out what i'm doing.
So using my sister's new soompi account (yay she decided to join soompi smile.gif ), I will post about my progress.

Currently I am 5 feet 2 inches at about 185 pounds. I'm obese sad to say. I am willing to admit it (probably because i'm hiding behind my sister's account). Reading posts on soompi make me sad because it seems like most of the people on soompi are less than 120 lbs. mellow.gif I'm jealous.

I have constantly gained and lost weight. I'm hoping I will be able to lose for good now.

I'm losing 20 pounds in 2 months for my graduation. My parents promised to buy me a new dream car AND pay for 1/2 my college funds (i was supposed to work and pay for it all) if i lose the 20 pounds..


So here I go. Starting April 16 and ending June 16... I WILL TRY MY BEST TO LOSE 20 POUNDS.
Trust me it's going to be hard. I'll do DAILY posts of what I eat & how I excercise.
& do weekly updates of my weight.

I'm an extremely unhealthy eater. I eat chips almost everyday with soda. I eat fast food everyday. It's horrible. So now i'm going to work extremely hard to become healthIER.
Usually when people lose weight, they eat EXTREMELY healthy. Well trust me this isn't going to be like that. Of course i'll cut the junk food & soda. But i'll probably end up eating some fast food. I hope not but that's how my life is.. haha.

I have lost about 20 pounds in the summer but I gained it all back during school. I'm pretty good with the excercising but its the foodddd thats the issue.


& trust me I WILL NOT STOP THIS TIME!! haha. i guess stress really makes me eat. but my MAIN goal is to lose 60 pounds in at least a year.

1st day. April 16. - 185 lbs
Breakfast-- blueberry muffin
Lunch -- 2 slices of pepperoni pizza
Dinner -- A whopper. (im embarassed.. but no fries & soda for once)
*note I HAVENT STARTED MY DIET.. so this is seriously what I eat almost everyday.. thats why i'm OBESE*
excercise-- none .. i promise i'll start tommorow!

I'm actually around the same as you - 5'3" +180 lbs ._. It definitely won't be easy but hopefully with the added incentives, you can pull through; good luck! laugh.gif

some advice: you should probably stop eating junk food... period.. >.<
and i heard that pasta and bread has a lot of carbs and stuff.. x//
and... you shouldnt eat past 7pm! even fruits and veggies..
and sleep early!!
cuz sleeping burns lots of calories! xDD (yesssssssss! lol)
danggg...........! i gotta remember to do all this stuff!!!!!! sleep.gif;; lol

ohh!!!
and things like DDR (you know.. that awesome game Dance Dance Revolution! lol) actually help you lose weight!
and doing a sport really helps too!!

DONT go back to your normal eating habits and stuff...
cuz this winter.. i lost bout 10 pounds in less than a week..
and.......i thought that cuz i lost 10 pounds id stay like that..
BUT...i didnt. cuz i started eating more and stuff..
and i gained bout 20 pounds.

that's great, good luck on your endeavour

for the junk food part, just try to find other healthier foods you like eating nuts instead of chips for snacks

i think it's also a good idea to find someone to exercise with, that way it's not so boring and you can help encourage each other

I can't answer for the OP, but for me, eating bad food is difficult to control. Like I ignore all the facts about how unhealthy it is for me because I care more about the instant pleasure I get from eating the food. I think for me, it's emotional eating - like if I'm stressed out or pissed off or something I'll turn to food. I heard it's almost as bad as addiction to drugs... X_X (This is for me personally, not saying for OP)

that is EXACTLY how it is for me. it's sad. I try to control it but I lose control & i regret it seconds later i'm done eating.
I tell myself NOT to do it but i end up doing it again. it sucks.

OOh 2 slice of pizza. THat's a lot of fat & calories right there. Plus muffin & a whopper. Girl I know this is harsh to hear but you have to get rid of those food if you want to lose the 20 lbs in 2 months. I'm doing a low-card diet with my sister right now. I'm not overweight or anything but I'm really toned...muscular body you know. So I want to lose 20 lbs for the slim-looking. Trust me it's hard but you gotta do what you gotta do. My best advice are:
- Eat lots & lots of salad...strawberries, vegetable instead of fatty food.
- Eat chicken with your salad and find the lowest fat dressing.
- Exercise at least once or twice a weeks.
- Drink 4 bottle of water a day.
- Count your calories- Write down what you eat.
- Stay in your room after you get home (Usually when I'm on computer, time flies fast & I tend to forget about eating).
- Eat everything but small portion.

Good luck to you. I'll keep checking your post now and then...

Ok this is embarassing but I'll do it anyways.

The way to do it is to NOT STARVE. you HAVE to eat. Eat in little increments. 5 times a day isnt too bad. ONLY small portions. NOT BIG PORTIONS. For example: The whopper you ate for dinner, cut that in half and you can save the other for lunch tomorrow or dinner tomorrow. Snack: eat fruit and lots of it, nuts(only some are good for you though), granola, oatmeal, salads (limit dressing). Drink lots of H2O, green tea.

Chew slow so it give your brain and body time to tell you that you are full. When you feel full, stop eating, dont Indulge and gorge on food. It will only make you feel worse.

*HINT* Try not to eat fast food junk alot anymore. Not good for you. Clogs your arteries. If you must, go for the healthier, although fast food is not healthy at all. Try their slads, chicken sandwiches (taking off top or bottom bun), instead of fries, go for fruit cups, yogurt, something healthier. IF you must have fries, go for a small size. Pop? nomore of that.

When you wake up, you should eat a bigger meal for breakfast but only heathy stuff. Your body has been asleep, therefore, it shuts down and your metabolism slows down burning nothing. When you wake up, your body is up and running again and your trying to feed it to go on for another day. The reason for breakfast being the biggest meal is, it's the easiest meal to burn off. Think about it, your working all day, so the food that you ate for breafast burns off easier .
You then eat smaller portions through out the day. This way, it gives your body time to adjust and burn calories.
Then your body goes through the process again. have you ever heard of the saying, "your body is like a on-going machine"? This is what I am talking about.
The smaller the portions, the faster your metabolism can burn off calories faster and easier than trying to burn off 1 big meal. That is why I say eat throughout the day. 5 times a day, SMAL PORTIONS. The smaller the portion, thea easier your body can burn it off.

My boyfriend is a personal trainer. He went to college for this stuff. He is a fit guy with a big appetite. But the reason why he can eat as he does is because his body is able to burn it off because his body burns off all the calories so quickly.
I am jealous of the food, not to mention the amount that he can eat. But he has worked hard for the body that he has.
You can do it, I know you can. But you have to do it how you want too. All of us can tell you how to do it, but you wont unless you really want too.

The whole point here is "SMALLER PORTIONS" Trust me, I am taking a health class in college right now and this is the way to go. AGAIN, DO NOT STARVE YOUR BODY. That will only make it worse. The faster you lose weight, the more likely you will gain it back and more. The slower you lose weight (in the healthy correct way) you will have longer lasting results and feel healthier. Good luck. I will keep updates with you and help you as much as I can.

Aaaah okay, so I've decided to sign up with you. Maybe we can motivate eachother? I'm sick and tired of having all this excess weight. The thing that really hit me was when I was putting on my belt. Usually I'm like really close to the belt where I'm on the first/second hole ... but now I HAVE to put myself on the third/fourth whole because the first two are "tight" now >< Ahck, and plus since summer's coming up my old friends (from my previous school who I haven't seen in like a year) are probably going to ask me to hang out with them and it'll be embarassing to see them again with all this deprovement? >< Yeaaah well anyways I hope the best for us since this IS going to be really hard, especially since it's going to be finals like next week. T_____T I'll try balancing things out... xD Okay so here's my basic things?

Start: April 17
Age : 14 xD
Height : I'm not entirely sure but it's probably 5'3 (last time I checked was like 5'2 1/2 but i believe I grew)
Weight : Again, I'm not sure of because my scale is all whack now, but everytime I get on it, it says I'm like 140 ... so I'm rounding it up to 145-150 because well .. it's not really reliable.

I know it's been mentioned many times but eat lots of fruits. Fruits are sweet, filling, but still healthy. I'd recommend carrying a few plastic containers of low fat snacks around everywhere you go.

wow seriously losing 20 pounds is my DREAM GOAL
i really wanted to lose weight but i just end up with the bag of chips and coke t-t
a lot of the guys at my school and church make fun of me cause im fat...
i think its more like that cause i hang out with really skinny friends that complain that they are fat...

I think it's great that you are motivated to lose weight.
I just have one question though, why do you eat fast food if you are trying to be healthy?
Convenience? Taste?

Cuz by cutting out all junk food alone without exercise, you would probably drop your 20 pounds.

Dieting doesn't have to be hard unless you make it hard.

Kale, spinach, and romaine chicken salad with a raspberry vinegarette dressing,
slivered almonds, and dried cranberries, with a side of sweet potato mash spritzed with lime juice...
does that not sound appealing?

It's quick as well. And thats just one example.
