Schools are always wanting to reduce class sizes but I don't really see the point because I don't feel a difference in 20 and 30 kids (where I live 30 is considered a big class). Apparently you learn better in a smaller class, but I've have a lot of classes ranging 10-30 kids and I feel like I learn just fine. Anyone else feel the the same way?

Haha My history class has a total of 13 kids XD
(ONLY 3 ARE GIRLS INCLUDING ME OMG O_O!)
The rest of my classes are your normal average sized class numbers,
but even though i feel no change its just that in my histroy class,
since its small, it feels like a close-knit class~ ^^*

I don't really think the number of studetns in a class will affect a student's learning,
it all just depends on the teacher and how good he/she teaches~ ^^*

It doesn't really affect my learning.. I guess. But at the same time, a big class = a lot of people = me talking to a lot of people = me not paying attention. My drama class has about 50 people and I talk a lottttt. I guess people say it affects your learning because the teacher has many more students to help? I don't know.

ALWAYS KEEP THE FAITH.

just wait till you get to university with 300+ students in your class
and you're just a student number on the gradebook

when the class is smaller, the teacher will have more time to concentrate on each of the students
& the students needs, individually ^^ .. at least in my experiences? O_O
but it doesn't really make that big of a difference to me haha

Not really. If there's 10 in a class, it's ok with me, less distractions. If there's more than 30, which is what usually my class size is, it's ok with me, more fun time. laugh.gif

I tend to like smaller classes. Less distractions and the teacher can help you out more.
My normal classes have about 28 students which is kind of big?
Anyways theres always so much noise coming out from our normal classes (:

I don't think the class size matters.
It's more 'who's the teacher'...
Or who is in the class number. You could have a bunch of quiet people in a big class or a ton of loud people that can distract you in a small class.

It doesn't make much of a difference unless the class is filled with trouble makers D=

I like smaller classes though, my english class has only 15 students and everyone gets along better and we know what's going on. My big class is just all over the place with their own little groups haha

well, average here is like 25.
the big classes are 30+ but thats rare.
and for me, i prefer to be in a smaller class, like 15-20 students, because there's less disturbances and i would feel more comfortable speaking out, asking questions etc.

Well, class size does affect my learning. I hate it when I'm put way at the back of the classroom when the class is huge because I can't see anything and I usually miss a lot of things the teacher says.
It's not really comfortable if the class is crowded too. You get distracted so easily. :-/

for me, twenty people (from my religion class) I can actually work pretty well because it's quiet and no one talks (except for some people in the back)

I think somehow it does.! If they're a lot of students, I would be distracted when they talk LOUD! So annoying.

Of course with less students the teacher will be able to focus more individually and be able to help the student easier. Smaller classes are much better for learning.

hm..i kinda like the smaller class sizes. it's easier to get one on one time with the teacher. and back in high school, it was fun bc everyone knew each other and we were all good friends so we felt more comfortable in class when, let's say giving presentations. well, that's how i felt biggrin.gif

I don't think it really matters. Maybe the teacher can get more close to you if your class is small?

My English class has about 15 people. My teacher's is this crazy, lovable person. laugh.gif She arranged our desks in a giant circle and we usually just sit and discuss the novel we're reading. I love English class.

But, I think my preference towards English class has to do with my teacher because she makes the class enjoyable.

I think small classes are better. There tends to be less drama, and the theres usually only 1-2 troublemakers as opposed to 10 in a big class. Keep in mind I went to a HS where the average amount of kids in a class was 40+ in regular sized classrooms because they fired all the teachers.
honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

i dont think reducing class size effects learning
it justs effects the amount of time a teacher can interact with a student
