How Do You Stop Constantly Snacking?

It escalated to binging, which I have managed to stop for the past two years or so.
BUT especially recently I find myself eating and eating, when I know I should stop. For example, there will be a packet of chips, and I will eat half the bag, put it away, eat some other stuff, then later finish the bag off! (Those big bags) Part of it is having unhealthy food in the house, but if that is gone I will just eat a lot of sandwiches, or pasta etc.. You get the idea.
Basically my question is, how do I get back on track with being sensible? How do I regain willpower to make the right decision?
I feel better when I am not eating all this junk but I have a problem stopping.

Buy healthy things like fruits and veggie packs so if you do want to snack, at least you'll eat something healthier
Drink water if you feel the urge to snack. Sometimes thirst is confused with hunger.
If you just want to keep you mouth occupied, either chew gum or chew on ice chips

Maybe if you had some apples or bananas around, it might be easier for you to switch to snacking on those.

Whenever I get the urge to just snack unhealthy food (or just food I know I shouldn't eat), I just pop in a piece of gum. Surprisingingly it helps me. During my health class once, my professor said that your "hunger-cravings" only last about fifteen minutes. If you get over that initial fifteen minutes. you're good to go until the next wave. So in order to "compensate" or wtv, just chew gum. It helps me a lot. Lord knows I should just lay off the junk food.

I drink at least 2 litres of water per day.. probably more. I drink a lot of green tea too, does this cause more hunger?
For me, the best solution is not to have junk food in the house - but I live with my parents and they buy it. I turn to easy, instant food like a packet of chips instead of peeling and cutting fruit... It's also because I am home a lot these days - if I was at work or busy all day then I would eat less.
I will try to substitute other healthy foods... and gum.

I also chew my food slowly so i don't do that thing where i already ate more than i should before my stomach feels it's full
and you won't feel like you have to snack later on...

I suggest getting some Naked Juice if you can. Its 100% juice, its really good, and when I'm hungry all I do is drink a few sips and it definietly helps to curb my urge to eat every bit of junk food that my mom and sisters fill the kitchen with.
