I just recently purchased a new laptop, and I want to transfer my files (all 100GB of them =/) from my desktop onto it. Is there an easier way than using my 2G flash drive to transfer chunks of files 50 times?

network them together.
all the computers in my house are all networked to each other, so i can browse, copy and move files, big and small , from any computer in the house to my computer and visa versa, wireless and/or wired regardless of the OS each is running (theres XP pro, 2 XP homes, ME, NT, and an XBOX1 with XBMC networked in the house in this fashion)
its quite a process and you probably can google: 'windows network file sharing' or something like that for more info. im just gonna summarize the basics off the top of my head:

- make sure all computers are on the same workgroup (controlpanel > system > computer name > change > input the same workgroup name on all computers but make sure each computer has a unique computer name) and network (ie. plugged into the same router, etc)
- do this on all computers to allow sharing: goto my computer > right click on the drive you want to share (ex. your C: drive) > properties > 'sharing' tab > check: SHARE THIS FOLDER > OK
- (there may be a step inbetween here where you hafta allow user permissions...)
- then you can browse from my network places > etc.. then after, its just a matter of drag and drop to copy/move stuff

Yes, networking is your answer. I have all of my computers networked together except for my laptop which I got a while back and haven't had the chance to network that in yet. So what I did was.....to use AIM and file-transferred the things I need....it goes a lot faster than normally sending it to other people, and you wouldn't have to unplug your flash drive back and forth 50 times. However I'm not sure if it really works as well for other people....you can try giving it a shot.
*Insert some wise words here*

Or...if you have AIM on both comps, then send to each other =]. You'll get some ridiculous speeds...it might hurt your service though....since you're mass uploading/downloading at the same time hahaha.
