I'm currently a senior in high school & I'm still quite unsure about which college I'm going to be attending this upcoming fall. I've been accepted to 5 private schools & I have my back up CSU (California State University). The downside is that I didn't get enough financial aid for my private schools so I'm thinking about just going to a CSU & doing a transfer.

But I had some quick q's:

- I know for UC's, they would rather take CC students rather than CSU students.. Is it the same way for private schools?
- Will I have to provide my high school GPA & SAT scores?
- How about high school ECs?
- Is it possible to transfer after just finishing 1 year? (So transfering in as a sophomore)
- Which one's easier? Going from a CSU to a private, or a private to a higher ranked private school?

& for the people that transferred from schools other than CC's to privates, put up your stats!

No. The CCs and UCs have agreements and programs like IGETC, TAG, TAP, etc. and that is why CC students have priority when applying to UCs if they finish certain programs.

Will I have to provide my high school GPA & SAT scores?
GPA, but only to the CC. You don't need to list HS GPA when applying to transfer to a UC.

How about high school ECs?
You won't need them for CC, but when you apply to transfer from any school to a UC, the application will ask for you to list ECs and I believe you can list ECs that date back 4 years.

Is it possible to transfer after just finishing 1 year? (So transfering in as a sophomore)
It's most likely more easily done from another 4 yr university than a CC. If you want to transfer from a CC to a UC or another 4 yr uni, they usually want you to finish a certain courses. Talk to the school you're interested in.

Which one's easier? Going from a CSU to a private, or a private to a higher ranked private school?
Probably CSU to private since getting good grades would be easier at a CSU.
