Okay I posted earlier about UCI vs. UCLA vs. UCSD.
I've finally come down to UCLA vs. UCSD. Haha it took so long to rule out just one school.
It's April 29, already! The deadline to submit the SIR is May 1. ):

Right now I'm leaning towards UCSD. I visited it for Admit Day. I loved the Muir dorms and its suite layout. I love the beach, the atmosphere, the college system, the biking, the Dr. Seuss stuff, the Price Center, etc!

However, I didn't really give UCLA a chance. I drove around it on the way home. Didn't really get out of the car. Just.. you know.. drove. Got a small glimpse. I didn't really like the fact that all the buildings seemed to be made out of bricks. But it did feel like a place I could really get used to. I don't know though. It's hard. I didn't visit it and give it as much time as I did UCSD. I liked UCSD's architectural variety more than UCLA's brick buildings. But, perhaps I'm completely wrong! Perhaps there are parts of UCLA that are just so different from buildings like the Royce Hall and the Library and the school of Law and the Humanities building, or whatevereverever? ):

If you're from either school, please help me out. Also, this goes especially to those who chose UCSD over UCLA when they had the chance. What made you choose so? Did you ever regret it. DO you regret it? To the people who chose UCLA over UCSD, too! Why?

Why is such an important question..

I'm from UCLA, but I'm very familiar with UCSD as well because I go there often for my friends + boyfriend. I think the most striking difference between the two environments is this: UCLA is very fast-paced while UCSD is more laid-back.

Both schools are fantastic institutions. Both have a beautiful campus with wonderful facilities (Side note: UCLA is informally divided into 2 campuses - North and South. North Campus is mostly for the Social Sciences and Humanities, and is known for its "better" architecture. South Campus is mostly for the Sciences and the Mathematics/Engineering, and looks more "dry" aesthetically). No matter where you decide to go, you will get great educational opportunities. The most important factor to consider, in my opinion, are the location and environment. It is very important to be happy where you are in the next 4 years.

As for me, I know UCSD would have been a better fit for me. I've always met better people and enjoyed the atmosphere of UCSD better than that of UCLA. But I have personal reasons for attending UCLA. I don't regret it because I knew what I was doing and regrets are useless anyway.

So that's a gist of my opinions on the 2 schools. Hope I've helped make things more clear for you. Congrats on the acceptances and good luck with your decision - I'm sure it'll be a good one! smile.gif

Btw, for housing, I'd also say that UCSD wins hands-down (I esp. love their on-campus apartments)!

I didn't get into UCLA and went to UCSD but now that I know more about both schools other than rankings, I'm glad I ended up going to UCSD. I don't know, I hear that some UCLA people are really cutthroat for grades (the premeds I suppose) O_O And I didn't like the general atmosphere of LA as much as I liked San Diego and La Jolla. BUT I hear UCLA food is awesome!

well this is kind of late but here's my input anyways. i went to ucsd and personally, if i were you i would have picked ucla hands down. but, i consider ucsd a norcal school, and given that you're from san jose, i think you'll like ucsd.

best of luck.
i'd like to thank graceyoon and melkimx for warning me to 40%. thank you from the bottom of my heart.
