SPAMMING:— One or even few line posts, just to say "Thanks," "I'm sorry," "I love this picture," "So cute," "They are hot," "I agree," "Me too," "Congratulations," "Happy birthday," "I'm excited," "I can't wait," etc. or words to that effect. Put these comments at the end of another post about something else OR if this is all you wanted to write, please add more content... how are they hot, why did you love the picture, what makes you excited, etc.
— More and more, we are getting folks just posting SOLELY to say "
Please don't spam" without any other content. While it's great that folks are trying to help the moderators, it would be better if you PMed the person directly to tell them not to spam so as not to contribute to more spamming in the thread. There is no need for several posts on one page asking people to stop spamming.
— Repeated posts SOLELY for the purpose of soliciting votes, even for Super Junior or its members. While it's of interest to the SuJu community, please add it as an addendum to another post, not as the sole content. It's fine to inform the thread about a new voting item, preferably with detailed instructions on where to go and how to vote, but repeated posts with the content just consisting of "Vote for ______, <insert link>" is NOT ALLOWED nor is asking about how to vote, where to vote, etc. PM the person who originally posted about the voting and ask them for instructions.
— Even long posts without much substance and/or unrelated to Super Junior. While we are friendly on the thread, there is a time and place for everything. You had a dream about Super Junior or its members? You saw something (
not other artists, please read what not to do for further detail) that reminded you of or related to Super Junior? By all means, share it with the tread. However, this is NOT the thread to share things about your personal life that is UNRELATED to Super Junior. The one exception is the introduction of yourself as a newbie to this thread. See below in "NOT SPAMMING."
— Treating the thread as a personal IM or a chatroom. If you are responding to an individual poster that is unrelated to SuJu such as thanking them for answering a question you posed, just edit your previous post where you posed the original question so that others won't continue replying to the same question over and over again or if you are asking/commenting to an individual a question specific only to them, PM the poster directly. Also, when posting
during live streaming events keep to the ONE POST PER PERSON PER PAGE netiquette. Instead of writing one post saying "they are doing this" followed by another post a few minutes later saying "now they are doing that," just edit your previous post until we move onto the next page. It's a common courtesy so as not to burden thread readers with excessive pages to read during live broadcasted events when the thread tends to move at a quick pace.
— Quoting a LONG POST just to reply with a short response. Edit your quote to the relevant part that you are replying to.
— Asking a question that can readily be found in the
first page of this thread or by
backlogging a few pages.
— Asking non-SuJu related questions such as technical ones on how to use different programs (clubbox, software for radio shows), websites (how to sign up, what various pop-ups mean), online voting, etc. Look to the first page. Most answers should be answered there. If it's not, PM the person who originally posted the info in the thread which brought up your question.
— Asking about a rumor or posting things you heard/read somewhere else such as rumors, random opinion pieces, etc. First, check to see where it came from. If it is not from a reliable LEGITIMATE source such as an official news outlet, SM, or Super Junior members themselves, think twice. If the news, information, opinion, etc. is from sites such as allkpop, asianfanatics, blogspot, forumotion, friendster, multiply, myspace, facebook, twitter, popseoul, shenyuepop, youtube, wikipedia, random fan blog, etc., where anyone with a computer/internet can post anything they want WITHOUT ANY PROOF, stop right there and go no further. DON'T POST it in the thread. Let's not spread rumors OR give things more credibility by posting it in more places.
— Quoting pictures. Please remove the [img] tags before quoting a post that contains pictures.
NOT SPAMMING:— Even one line posts IF they ask or answer concrete questions relevant to SuJu (
NOT rumors or seeking fan opinions, but factual/informational questions). Although it might be one line as long as there is something of substance regarding SuJu that you are dying to know or can answer for a fellow poster in the thread, that's fine. By something of substance, it's referring to questions that you CAN'T find the answer to on the first page or by backlogging a few pages OR not rumor related/opinion based. If you have a concrete question, FIRST backlog a few pages, read the first page, and then IF YOU CAN'T FIND THE ANSWERS THERE then ask the question in the thread.
— Introduction of yourself to the Super Junior thread as a newbie. We have strict spam rules, but that is not to say you can't tell the folks in the thread a little bit about yourself when you first come into the thread to let others know who you are.
N.B.The folks in the thread occasionally remind fellow posters of the rules, not because we are trying to hinder people's fun, but because we don't want you to get officially warned or even suspended by the moderators and/or have the thread closed for excessive spamming (as has happened before). We self-moderate so we won't have to have undesirable rules forced upon us like some other threads.
You might not think that it's a big deal for one or few people to spam with a short "I'm so excited about the new album!" but can you imagine if everyone who came into the thread did that? We would have 10+ pages of posts with just that one or few sentences. Spamming not only hinders things that are important regarding SuJu from being readily available to thread readers, but also hinders some from even reading/participating in the thread at all due to the excess speed at which the thread moves.
Spazzing about and discussing all aspects of Super Junior is ALWAYS WELCOME, but spamming is not. Let's be courteous of everyone in the thread by reducing the amount of spam each of us contributes to the thread.
