I really think people are taking Kibum in the wrong way. He's just a 20 year old in Western age (22 in Korean age)! Apparently, Korean netizens are calling him arrogant because he said during the conference that he enjoys acting more than singing so he'll be focusing more on that and that he didn't join SuJu to be a singer and that he won't be part of any subgroup in the future. As for the first part, ALL folks who go into acting who are famous from another field say something similar at the press conference. It's because they want others to see them as actors more than their previous image. As for the second part, anyone who is a SuJu fan knows that he didn't join SuJu to be a singer (nor does he have much singing parts). SuJu is more than just a singing group, it's an all-around entertainment group of folks who do various things while focusing on one main thing. They all have their specialty. Some sing, some dance, some act, some DJ, some MC, etc.

No matter what he says, even if he were to tell the whole world he loves singing and being in Super Junior, he would still get criticized. They should stop condemning him for everything he does: if he doesn't speak, he's arrogant and distant; if he finally opens up and expresses his wish of becoming a big actor, he's still arrogant and rude. Kibum didn't ask to join Super Junior, it's all SM's doing because he was popular than more than half of the members back then and it helped - it's just marketing strategies. I never thought of Kibum as a singer, but always and simply as an actor, although I love, love, love having him in Super Junior. I have a lot of respect for Kibum and I hope his new drama will be successful despite the harsh criticism thrown in his face. Kibum's life isn't all rainbows and puppies, I find him to be a person worthy of everyone's admiration.

LOL i knew it. I guessed as much in his acting thread. He just wants people to look past his idol image. Doesn't mean he dislikes being in Suju. I bet he loves/appreciate it that he gets 12 friends who have to take care of him one way or another by default.

One more thing, Heechul was right when he said, Kibum would be the one to come up with sudden and surprising declarations. The kid could stand being a little less extreme when it comes to revelations. Actually no, I like him the way he is. (I suddenly remember the interview* where he told Heenim not to ever change awww). All young and bold. puhahahahaha. Go Kibum! As long as it doesn't jeopardize his career too much.

He is always misunderstood. People who love Super Junior misunderstand his way of thinking and actions, what more the others who are so-so or not a fan of Super Junior at all?

*sigh. That's what people always tend to forget. Suju has never been just focused on one talent. They were made up of people who excel in singing, some in dancing, then acting then mcing/djing. I simply dont like it when they are compared to other idol groups when these idol groups are made for music industry in the first place. Everyone knows Kibum likes acting more so who are we to blame him and his liking? just because he enjoys acting more doesnt mean he is excused to treat singing/performing on stage very lightly. Whenever he sings, he shows too much passion. The expressions on his face whenever he sings make you think that he's feeling and loving the song. He's always done a good job whether in singing, dancing or acting. What do people still want from him? It doesnt make him any less of a member of Super Junior just because he prefers acting more *sigh.

This is one of the reasons why I love Super Junior. 13 people who have different talents yet each tries his best to be good in every aspect of 'talents'.

I also agree. Kibum's personality is just special. In the first album he actually had lots of lines in those songs.
Whenever I see him singing he looks uncomfortable, but when he acts he really looks happy.

How bothersome that people get so worked up over honesty. It's like they have to criticize because the person doesn't respond they way THEY want them to.

This is why I like Kibum so much - he speaks from his heart and doesn't sugar coat it, no matter the reaction or cost.

I agree with most of what you guys said about Kibum. When i became a fan of Suju, i was a bit annoyed of him because of his distant personality.But as i got to know him more thru interviews & all the fan accounts, , i learned to understand his why he is like that. He may not be overly expressing his love being a singer but i bet he LOVE being a part of Super Junior. If you guys could recall his Arirang monologue, he talked about his dream to become a great actor which i think he could achieve.

I'm kind of sad that he's not going to be in any subgroup but as long as he's happy with what he is doing, I'm fine with that. Although I like hearing him sing, he's always been an actor to me, not a singer. That's exactly why they are "Super Junior" in the first place- each one of them have different specialties and it just so happens that Kibum's is acting.
