If you want to go to more effort, make some skewers, or marinate your own chicken wings?

some fruit would be good too, not sure what's in season right now, but watermelon should be good
edit: oh wait I realized you said americanized, dunno about carne asada (mexican) and short ribs (korean) then, lol. but steaks (ribeye?) should be good. maybe baby back or beef ribs too

i can never go without kalbi!
as for the chicken, it can be wings or drumsticks.
you just gotta be careful when cooking them.
you gotta have an area on the grill where the heat isn't as great as what you're using to cook the rest of the meats.
it's good to start on them a little early too 'cause it takes time nd patience to cook the chicken through.
marinate it. use something that you like for the flavoring.
be careful if you use like bbq sauce. it burns easily.

when preparing the ground beef, mix in bbq sauce and shredded cheese (or even bleu cheese crumbles). best served with orowheat potato buns (make sure to toast them) and fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle.
well, it's not so secret anymore...!
as for veggies? asparagus, potatoes, and corn. mmmmm!

Why dun have a theme for your BBQ.. (japanese, Korean, Mexican, Seafood, Moroccan...)
serve flatbread (naan, turkish bread, pita..) instead of the normal mashed potatoes or fries....they can be used to wrap the BBQ meat.... or you can do a fried rice!
nice thick juicy t-bone or sirloin/marbled beef
beef/lamb kebabs
crayfish or even lobsters
hotdogs with cheddar inside
marinated pork belly
asparagus/straw mushrooms wrapped in bacon
serve garlic bread, prawns basted with garlic butter, foil wrapped mussels with beer and corn on the cob
Grill stuffed capsicums. Stuff the capsicums with a nice seafood mix of fish, prawns, sotong and scallops if you want luxury all mixed in campbell's cream of mushroom soup (undiluted). Get red capsicums or yellow/orange ones as they are sweeter. Wrap with aluminium foil and grill. Eggplant will also grill very nicely with some mozarella cheese on top!
as for desserts:
usually too much meat in BBQ..
so have a Chilled Vodka WaterMelon, lots of fruits (mangoes, pineapples, banana, starfruit..), have them grilled, served with some rum sauce or lemongrass-infused syrup and ice cream...
2) Oreo Cookies Ice cream pie for dessert.
Crust:
1 stick melted unsalted butter
1 packet of Oreo cookies (Crush them into fine chunks)
Fillings:
More Oreo cookies (crush into slightly thick chunks)
Cookies and Creme ice-cream
Hershey's chocolate fudge
1st mix melted butter with fine oreo cookie chunks in a bowl. Make sure they are sticky.
Next, lay them into a shallow bowl which is greased with a little butter. Mould the cookie mixture into a pie base.
Refrigerate for 30mins - 1 hour. Meanwhile, mix slightly soften ice-cream with chunks of Oreo Ice Cream. You may also add some fudge into the ice-cream mixture.
Scoop the ice-cream mixture into the pie base. make sure the entire pie is evenly coated with the ice-cream. add a thick layer of chocolate fudge all over the ice-cream filling.
freeze the pie for 1-2 hours.
banana with melted chocolate. Just wrap banana with chocolate in aluminium foil and "baked" for a minute or so and it's done, and top off with caramel sauce. Very sinful!
or you can try grilling some fresh pineapples.
Or wrap japanese sweet potatoes in foil, after it's done, squeeze in some lemon juice.. yummy...
desserts, u can make smores, U need graham cookies (original flavour), chocolate bars (preferably semi-sweet) and marshmallows. Bbq marshmallows until it's golden brown outside, be careful not to let it get burnt..then fill the marshmallows in between the chocolate and graham cookies, the marshmallows will melt the chocolate a bit since it's hot...it's juz like a mini marshmallow sandwich! Have fun
this is from another forum i frequent.. tips are not mine~
as for me, I'd say, keep the meats same, change the marinades, e.g make it more asian, spicy etc..
keep the dessert light especially if it's a hot day, but you MUST always have ice cream!! try making some chilled aloe vera in lemon grass etc. it's really good.
oh and it helps to set up the fire earlier, say if everyone's coming at 6 start the fire at 4plus and get cooking... especially if you're inexperienced with starting the grill fires. otherwise you'd only have everyone eating the first chicken wing at 9pm. not very fun.
hope this helps, have fun bbq-ing!
