whenever you say you play games still and go to college, do people judge you and say like "college students have to be hardworkers and study hard!!"

did you guys ever hear that? what was your comment back to them?? i'm really curious about that. they make like college is only about studying!!! >__<;;

ESPECIALLY asian parents ugh!! >__< not only parents but adults! i mean i don't care but they are so annoying!! >__<

i play maplestory, mabinogi, warcraft, etc but they would say "you are college girl now! only study!!" O_O T_T

Well, my boyfriend is a gamer (he used to play WoW), and he's always up to date on the latest games, even though we both are in college. Haha his parents used to be like "wth why aren't you studying?" once in a while, but he's been getting good grades so far, so they stopped bothering him about it. And yes, we're both Asian.

I guess it depends. my boyfriend barely studies and his classes just require him to write essays (once in while there's exams/quizzes), so he definitely has time for gaming. He's even playing GTA4 on 360 right now, even though we have a quiz on a 100 page reading on Friday... sweatingbullets.gif
I'm really thankful that you're alive. The news about you is my reason for living. We should meet at least once while living. No matter what you're doing be healthy and always live happily. For you being born, for meeting you... I'm so thankful.

to be honest, i would say the same thing.

not unless you're smart and dont have to study and still gets A,
not unless you've already done your homework and readings,
not unless you're getting good grades and just wanna play games for a while.

i understand that people need time to relax and play games,
but if i see it all the time, i would think that the person is careless about school.

but, as long as you know your limit,
and dont skip class, homework assignments, etc,
then you're all right.

GOOD LUCK!!
take care.

Games were developed by whitemen to keep the asians in check.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

A lot like basketball with blacks.. the white man may have created video games, but the Asian man mastered it. tongue.gif

I go to a tech school, where the male-to-female ratio is 4:1, and the majority of the school plays video games. It isn't an opinion or an estimation; it is a fact. I just happen to be one of the few in the school who has sworn off video games.

When I was a freshman in college, I use to play video games all the time, especially Halo and Halo 2 when it first came out. The entire campus was on the same network, so we could have 16 player battles on a nightly basis. My GPA was as low as.. the price of rice back a few years ago. I was embarrassed. Anyways, I swore off video games, and now I'm a much better student with a lot of free time for other things, and I can't be happier.

This isn't to preach not playing video games, but I would like to say that if you take away watching TV (or at least Tivo-ing episodes) and video games, you will find yourself doing a lot more productive activities in your life. Now if only I can do the same with the internet. sleep.gif

I've heard that saying all the time. I'm in college.. I need to work my priorities in order and stop acting like a child playing video games. (Interesting stat: The biggest video game demographic is between 18-32.) I actually think some video games is good for the blood. I just think it is something that should be kept in moderation, such as junk food, alcohol, and traveling.

I agree, it depends on your workload. if you're missing classes/HW because you're gaming then I'd say you're gaming too much, but if you can handle school while gaming then it's alright since it works. I cut out video games for a while, until guitar hero & rock band came out...oh man my grades were shot..but I'm swearing off all those games again, as well as not buying a DS tongue.gif

lol. My roommate plays games all the time. & when he's not playing, he watches anime. It's crazy.

Anyways, of course there will be a lot of studying in college. However, it's important to have time for yourself to do things you enjoy. I don't play computer games, but I play on my Nintendo DS quite a lot too. College students KNOW college is not all about studying. But i can agree & say parents think otherwise. Like my friend, whenever his parents visit him...they lock him in his room (in his own apartment!) & makes sure he studies.

I still play video games. But my parents stopped complaining once I got 4.0 taking sophomore classes freshmen year.

But they would rather me get a job and spend the time productively.

Asian adults are like that cause they mostly come from poor environment, where u have to work hard to be able to survive. Thats why they think u should work hard all the time instead of playing, even though the times have changed...

All work and no play make Johnny a dull boy =). I think studying should be a priority -- you should never choose playing a game over studying. Finish studying first and then play the game tongue.gif, let it be a reward for the hard work.

My strategy works out great -> Finish 3-4 weeks of homework, write down all the notes and stuff for the first few days. Then take it easy after that. So no games, no social life, nothing for the first few days of a quarter. Then after that, I split my time between studying and other activities 50/50 =). I call it reverse cramming or reverse procrastination heh.

However, if you're a person who does bad or your parents are paying for your college. Then yes, I would say you should be studying all the time instead of wasting their money =p. College is expensive and it is your future.

pff ok I don't play video games anymore except the Nintendo Wii sometimes. The thing is though, todays video games are made for people 18-30 years old now. Why? College students and working adults tend to have more money making them more likely to buy a video game. Video games are much harder then back then too now. Teenagers obviously play still, but the video games are aimed to please 18-30 year olds now. It's not bad to play video games in college still. Actually, I know some guys that are married that still play WoW and all that stuff.

With me, I just ended up deciding for myself when and when not to play games.

hey honestly games will get boring to you and if it doesn't, think about it like this... either play games by yourself vs. socializing with people making new friends or studying to get good grades or having a job to make money or spending time with your girlfriend, etc.

basically - game vs your life

Yeah... I played a lot of games during college... RO ftw. But I'm lazy, and probably could've done much better if I tried harder/ wasted less time.

I started playing games in year 8 till now, but definitely not as much now because I got more social and ditched games. When you play less games you will get more out of life. =] I swear.
