I'm currently a UCSD freshman planning to transfer to UCI next year due to financial/family reasons. I also have to go home every weekend because my mom is sick.
What's the gpa requirement to transfer? My gpa is below a 3.0 and I am really scared that I won't get in since the students transferring from community colleges will have 3.0+ gpas. Do you think they'll take into consideration that UCSD is a MUCH more difficult school and will be more lenient? And will they look at my internships/extracurriculars? I'm also taking 4 summer school courses at UCI this summer.
Thank you so much. I am stressing out so much right now!

my ex-ex-roommate transferred from UCSC to UCD but he had 4.00 GPA. I don't think you can transfer with a below 3.0 dude. All these community college students are transferring with like at least a 3.2+

the gpa should depend on your major, right? i mean i don't have like a 3.2+ at a community college and I still got into UCI.
But isn't UCSD better than UCI? I think you have a chance of getting in. What is your major? Maybe you should also talk to the administrator at UCI.

You know, I have this friend who went to UCI and hated it (no diss, it just wasn't his scene). One of his main reasons was that the dorm food didn't have a good selection of vegetarian food (he's Hindu) and his health basically went down. At the end of his first year, he petitioned to be transfered to Davis, I suppose because they're on the same wavelength, and used his health as the main reason. He also had his dad talk to the UCI and UCD peeps and he was able to transfer with no problems. This was way after the transfer application period but because of his circumstances they let him do it anyways. From what he told me the university people were extremely sympathetic with his case.
So definitely talk to your counselor to see if anything could be hashed out.

what requirements must you fulfill in order to transfer from UC to UC?
I'm hoping to transfer to UCI as well (or UCSD)
I hear it's near impossible to do it after only one year.
thanks!

It's hard because you need 90 units to be able to transfer and that's almost impossible to achieve in one year (even with credits from high school or community college courses in summer, etc).

No problem! But I just realized that he had all these credits from AP tests that bumped him up to sophomore or junior standing (don't quite remember, but I know for sure he had around 90 units) and that may be another reason why they let him transfer.
But lets hope for the best hmm?

yeah cause you came from a community college, you have first priority and community college grades don't have to be as good to to transfer.

what u can do is just go to a CC for a couple years... isn't occ around there and its a decent school?
just do that and then transfer to uci....
its cheaper and much easier than uc to uc....
just a thought
