Is anyone currently attending any art schools in the US or in other countries? I'm a junior right now and I'm looking for good colleges to apply to. I wanna major in Photography and Fashion Business/Marketting/Merchandising. POssibly minor in fashion design. So far, I have MICA, Parsons, RIT.

Any other good ones? smile.gif

Recommendations, experiences,thoughts,etc.

I'm not majoring art but I know some friends that are planning to.

I know that Pratt, SAIC (art institute of chicago) are some popular ones.

Ooh and lucky you guys. Art schools don't care about gpas and sat scores.

^ RISD is fabulous, but it's really hard to get into. Out of my three friends who applied last year, and my two friends who applied this year, ONLY ONE GOT IN (this year). And they were, all five of them, really skilled and talented- amazing artists. I don't know much about art schools in general except that they're hard to get into, but RISD is SUPER HARD. So if you apply to RISD, work on your portfolio until you drop. And then pray in your free time ^__^

If you want to get into fashion design, I heard FIDM is pretty good. But their more famous for their costume designers then anything else. Their centered in Downtown LA near Hollywood. =]

Really?!

Because RISD is one of my top choices to go to.

Other art schools are MCAD, ACAD and loads of more.
If you want to know about other art schools, just pm me biggrin.gif
I have loads.

RISD is considered to be one of the most competitive art schools. a lot of people say its the #1 art school, so of course it's going to be difficult to get into ..

If you're looking into photography in the upper east coast, i would look at SVA too.

actually, art schools dont compeltely disregard grades. last time i heard, MICA wants you to have a 3.5 GPA and a 2000 on SAT. (found out through some college website, NOT MICA's homepage)
and chicago doesn't look at GPA, but you need at least a 500 on both both the verbal and writing SAT. (a person from chicago visited my school and told my class this)
my friend was accepted into RISD. she was offered a $13,000 scholarship to Pratt, but she went to RISD...where she received none. but, it's understandable. it's RISD.

also, VCU is good. [Virginia Commonwealth Uni] but they're more into graphic design.
i hate when there's a seemingly interesting story but i can't read through it because the writing is SO. BAD.

If you wanna do the fashion marketing merchandising stuff FIT in ny is definitely
right there. They have a lot of majors and minors for fashion business stuff.
