yes, we all know how serious cheating is considered in most colleges... but does that stop you? whether you just glimpse at anothers test paper or fully program your calculator for an exam... can you say youve never cheated? or in another case.. do you "help" others?

ive just realized this but i have cheated on multiple occasions. someitmes i sit with my buddies during a quiz/exam and we kind of check our papers.. and even help each other out.(of course this depends on which lecture hall and/or the professor/instructor)

during a multiple choice exam... if i can see answers of someone sitting in front of me, its definately getting considered if im not sure of the answers myself.

today for our last calc quiz.. we were to grade our own papers and were given an answer sheet. and the ones i kind of left blank... they got filled haha who can resist??

i rarely cheat... but when i am given the chance, like today.. i take the offer.

anybody see this kinda stuff morally wrong?? share your experiences

As long as you cheat and still feel bad about it, then you're still human.

I know some people who cheat like they're drinking water, and they disgust me.
I personally have cheated too, but it was online homework assignments sweatingbullets.gif .

in the real world, cheaters [who are good at it at least] tend to get ahead faster in life, and buy some time in between to catch up with minimal requirements. knowing some cheater is getting ahead of life faster than me is a crappy feeling. it makes me want to cheat too. but i'd rather not. i'd rather be the real thing so when hell breaks loose, i can get my clients [or my employer] the bottom line. the cheater will forever live life dependent on a supplier.

Haha, my dad had to work under a guy who cheated his way through high school and college, but he ended up getting fired really soon after. Apparently he had no real skills, he was just good at convincing people he had them~ He was even bad with talking to others in a friendly manner haha :/

I don't cheat in the classic terms of looking at other people's paper or plagiarizing or anything, but I do cheat in the form of having old tests from upperclassmen or test banks so I can get a general idea of how the test is going to be. (all the more beneficial if the questions from the bank are directly on the test.) I don't feel too bad, because I do study my ass off for big exams, but sometimes you need a little help to get that A, you know?

I think the only time I cheated was when I saw the stack of physics lab quizzes before they were handed out when I went up to ask my TA something. I glanced at it... But it was a 5 point weekly quiz in a physics lab so it wasn't anything big like cheating during a midterm or a final so I'm not beating myself up about it. However it pisses me off when people cheat and get good grades while I worked my butt off to get a good grade. Like I had a friend in my general chemistry class who would cheat off of my quizzes and end up with better grades than me because she combined her answers with mine to determine which were more likely to be correct -- I wanted to report her but that would have made me feel like a tattle tale or something so I didn't but I refused to sit next to her after a few times dry.gif

i cheated my way through high school. i have yet to cheat in college and i don't plan to.

during my first semester, i saw this girls boyfriend come in and take the exam for her (it was beginning of sem and a lot of people).
that made me furious. so i told myself i wont cheat anymore because I know better than those two
and I want to achieve with a clear mind rather than have the guilt.

True, but at least you know you have higher morals? sweatingbullets.gif Think about everyone else that scored below you : )

I've cheated a couple times in high school, but I find that it's really hard to do that in college. My major classes have assigned seats for every midterm/final plus multiple versions of the test so it's hard to cheat - or maybe I'm just not good at cheating to figure out a way around that? haha.

i copy homework and shizz but just the consequences of cheating on an exam is too risky...especially going to a UC = kicked out of the entire UC system...and i want to go to a UC for grad school soooooo yeah ..
i would never risk it.

At the end of last quarter during the Philosophy final, I saw a girl in front of me pull out a handful of notes pages and flip through them so that she would have material to write in her essay. It sucks that even though my school functions on an Honor Code (no faculty in the classroom making sure you don't cheat) people take advantage of the system and mess up the grading curve for the rest of us =(

I was taking this impossible final for one of my classes. The girl who was sitting in front of me wrote really big and would lift her paper up to read it. So here I am taking my final staring straight ahead trying to recall irrelevant facts and this girl holds up her paper and I see it. I got one answer from her. That would be my first and most likely last time cheating in college; it's just not worth the risk. However I do wonder if people cheat when they go to the bathroom during an exam. I mean you have to leave your test and stuff with the TA's but what if you have notes in your pocket that you can read in the bathroom?

"i cheated my way through high school. i have yet to cheat in college and i don't plan to."

couldn't agree more, i advise people not to cheat. basically if you do, your future and career are over, unless you dont mind flipping hamburgers at mickey d's or something..Even if you don;t get expelled from a university depending on the severity of cheating, in UC's, i heard they suspend you and it will show on your transcript that you failed a class for cheating...good luck finding an employer who'll accept that.

Well the closest thing I've come to is not citing properly on papers other people's ideas. I used to just put it all at the end instead of where I used that information. I wasn't doing sophomore level classes at the time so my professor's weren't that strict on me. Once I was doing an online literature test and did my answer a certain way and the professor thought I had cheated but I just finished answering the same question on the message board with the class and I did it that way to remember what I had previously put... but other wise no. Now in elementary school once we were doing some type of homework or test (I don't remember which) and everyone shared answers. laugh.gif I forgot to say with the literature test the question that looked like it was cheating (it's hard to tell over the internet) that professor just didn't count it and marked it wrong and thankfully not on my transcript. Whew!
