Hello smile.gif
Okay, so theres about 3 weeks till I leave (with my family of course) to go to S.Korea! Just one problem--my Exlim Casio digital camera broke a few months ago (darn battery problem. *boycotts casio*). I'm excited as ever though!

We're looking for a camera that...
- Has very good Picture Quality
- Megapixels(?) (i heard this dosen't affect quality so not as important) BUT
[[i heard TOO much MP can slow down the camera ]]
- Easy Use
- Lots and lots of memory
- Good pictures inside and outside
- Big(ish) lcd screen
- Lightweighted [[if possible]]
- Easy Hold (Good grip, etc)

What we use digital camera for?

We don't really use it for photograhy. During family trips and such, we take a digital camera along and take MILLIONS (okay, not millions--just like 300 or so) of pictures. I'm not the kind of photo taker that takes pictures of 'posers'. Only some times we 'pose' by something, say "kimchee" (haha) then i take the picture. About 2/3rds or 1/2 of the pictures taken on one trip--has like alot of 'motion picture' should i say? Its not 'pose'd for. (I really hope I didn't confuse anyone.. sweatingbullets.gif )

Slim or Bulky camera?
Truthfully, I prefer slim cameras. Only because their design and the way it looks is pretty! Not to mention the whole light-weightedness of it. And also how its conveinent to take everywhere in its small case--unlike bulky cameras witch have..well..bulky cases/bags. Oh! And you can also take pictures of yourself next to a friend easily by holding the slim camera out!--with the bulky camera--it'd probably have a risk of falling (cause of its weight).
Then again, bulky cameras are an 'easy grip' and at times--i think it looks 'profess'? blink.gif Ah! Self contradictory. Help would be appreciated ph34r.gif

Some I looked at // Interested in...

PowerShot SD770 IS0 OR SD790---gah or any of the SD____IS ones??

I think this one'll be good. but idk about the picture quality and all that. I tried looking up for reviews but saw none.

PowerShot A580

PowerShot A590 IS

^ and ^again;; Idk about this one though. Didn't have very good ratings online blink.gif

PowerShot G9

^I don't think the price is worth it. This one costs $499. Yet its still a point&shoot camera.

Any suggestions for a different camera?
Or comments about the ones I found?
laugh.gif Thank you!

How about getting something from Sony? Canon still has an edge over Sony, but we can't deny that Sony's digital cameras are more stylish (:

Sony DSC-W300
- 13.6 MP and it has a scratch-resistant titanium coating (:
- 2.7" clear photo LCD
- easy shooting mode
- extra high sensitivity ISO 6400 mode
- extra high-speed burst mode
- variable noise reduction
- color filter kit
- fun-in camera retouching

I would've loved to get this camera, but I all ready have 2 and my parents definitely won't allow me to buy another one ^^;

look at canon sd 1000 or its updated version canon sd 1100, these two cameras are REALLY solid point and shoots. the MPs mean size, so its nice to have a bigger image, but its really pointless if you're just taking pictures for the sake of having memories and you're not gonna blow them up into posters or do any graphic design with them....7mp is still really good....I'd say you're right to want image quality, and canons are the best for quality.

I have to add though that canons have bad battery life compared to sony, and if you're tourist-y, this might not be great. Spare batteries are expensive.

I'm hunting for cameras too and I've found sony's to be expensive -__-;; even though the dsc t300 does look nice

As I said before, SD790 IS is the way to go.

i say get a digital that is AT LEAST 7 megapixels +....and actually the higher the number your picture quality is amazing..my friend has camera that is 10 megapixels...omg!!! you can see my mole on my cheek!!! the picture quality is very clear....its just that there is less memory usage for higher megapixels...

if you want lots lots of memory you have to buy a memory card..usually a 1 GB is good...

yeah for a good digital go for the canon powershot

and OMG!!!! that SOny digital is 13.6 MEGAPIXELS!!!!! that is amazing!!!!!!!!!

i have the Sony cybershot DSC-T70

its super light and slim
i think its harder to hold slimmer camera to take pictures of yourself with/without a friend because they are harder to grip?
but it comes with a strap u put on the little hole on the side like a cell phone charm
and if u have it around ur wrist u'll be fine, without it i would have dropped it countless times
it takes pictures very quickly and theres a thing where if u keep the shutter down it keeps taking pictures
and they usually arent blurry even of the person is moving
oh and its 8.1 megapixels the other stuff is on the camera...
i bet they have a lot more knewer ones with better optical zoom and megapixels but the same design
mine was i think $399 or $299 dont remember oh and its touchscreen

to get a lot of memory u need to buy a memory card mine only holds like 10-20 pictures in the internal memory
and memory cards range of like 50 to i have no idea but it depends on how many pictures u want it to be able to hold

okay, theres a lot of misleading information here.

"slim" and "very good quality" isn't going to happen, but your best chances are with a Canon P&S.

if you're taking pictures on a vacation, at the end of the day the quality of the pictures are going to be the biggest factor.

first of all, don't buy a Sony. they're infamous for mediocre quality pictures inside a cute looking camera.

megapixels isn't going to matter above 6 megapixels, especially on a point and shoot.

i would just recommend a entry level DSLR if your budget allows for it.

point & shoot to me is more of a "everyday camera" that you can toss in your bag.
