I have nothing. I met many strangers but really, I don`t think that they would do nice to me.
Because i`m the one who`s scared at them. ROLF

1/ i had a $50 bill, and was trying to chuck it in the train ticket machine but it wouldn't take it [obviously]. this random guy (probably late 20s?) then gave me some money. =) i was kind of scared since no one else was around...but yeah. he had purely kind intentions.

2/ at an excursion, we got goodie bags. my pen from the bag didn't work (but now it works XD), so this teacher gives me his...a nice black pen that all the teachers got.

3/ ooh when i was like...6-ish? i was lost in the markets, and i started to cry. lols and then these two ladies (?) came up and helped me to the office place-y thingy.

that's all up to now...2nd one was this year.

Well, I wouldn't call this something that a stranger has done for me. It's more to do with what they've said to me.

One early afternoon, I was waiting for my train to arrive. All of a sudden, an old Chinese man came up to me and asked me whether I spoke Cantonese. I said yes, and he asked for my name. Then, he started telling me what my name meant in Chinese. At that time, there was a lot of noise at the station, so unfortunately, I only absorbed half of the things he said.

He told me that I was a very quiet and disciplined child. He also said that I was very polite, and that I only spoke when spoken to.

Indeed, he's quite correct.

Funnily enough, this conversation lasted for less than five minutes. His train arrived before mine. We said bye, and that was the last I've ever saw of him.

awww.....this is a nice thread.....i like reading about act of kindness, it's nice to know kind people are still out there.....
i'm gonna share a few later...i'll be bck lol

EDIT....well this was last year...we were on the plane to Philippines.....when i suddenly felt really sick...my mom and dad were asleep and my sis was sitting next to me...she was half asleep too but i kinda woke her up and said that i feel like puking up so she rushed to get the paper bags but it wasn't there and we were panicking because i was really goona puke up soon...i didn't wanna run to the toilet bcuz people were waiting already and i was scared that i might throw up while running so i just calmed myself down....but my face was apparently really pale like my sis said.....and there was a couple right behind us but at the sides near the windows..if u know what i mean lol >.<....the lady saw me first...cuz i looked really ill....she probly noticed and she was rushing to get their own bags and she nudged her husband/bf...i cld see them cuz i kinda looked behind me a bit and i was embarrassed so i kept lookin down.....then both of them came up to me and gave me the bag and i started puking it was sooo embarrassing!! i was crying too hehehe =b.....>.<they asked the stewardess for some water for me and they wiped my tears and puke/saliva off my mouth haha XD........embarrassin but they were really nice to do tht....they thought all my family were all asleep so they helped me and i looked so helpless then cuz i was panicking >.<........i said thanks and they said your welcome ^^

- the first time i went breakdancing lessons...my fingers were all blistered and i showed it to my teacher and he was asking people for plasters as he didn't have any....so i said "it's ok, dnt worry about it"...cuz i was scared i was delaying the lesson and he said "no it's not ok" (he said more but i forgot)......he didn't stop looking for some plasters so i said again tht it was ok......but then he gave me his dancing gloves for me to use but i declined but he said "it's ok" lol =b.....
he's a sick dancer btw lol

this was quite recent 1.) my male friend was in front of me about to go out and the door was already open so he could've just went...but he turned back and went behind me so i could go first lmao....and i sed thanks...he just smiled >.<

2.) i opened the door so my male friends can go through and they stopped to let me go first so i said thank you and one of them said..(he used to be one of my really good male friends but i dunno what happened we just stopped tlkin to each other)....he said "you're always welcome (my name)" it wasn't just what he said but the way he said it lol and he was smiling too...tht really meant a lot cuz i thought he hated me or something but we're cool lol

another one...this happened last year i think...i was with my girls like 5 of us...and we were takin pics......a lady who walked right passed us turned back just to ask if we want her to take a pic of all of us together....awww...she said "don't worry i'm not gonna take your phone off you" lol (i used my phone to tke pics tht time).....tht was sweet...maybe she was reminded of the past wen she was young like us ?? >.<......
another old lady offered to take a pic for us...but she kept trembling and the pic was blurry but she kept trying about 5 times just for it to be perfect...she was sooo nice >.<...she said "i'm not really good with these technologies" haha....we said it was fine ^^........

edit again lol...i remember when i was really really young about 5/6...i got lost in the mall.......and this security guard apparently knew my dad.....he saw me once with him he said lol......(my dad was one of the big bosses in the mall).....he held my hand and took me to my papa's office haha xD......

The nicest thing a stranger has done for me is probably give directions and walk us to the location we needed to be at when I was lost with a friend since we were traveling out of the country. I was so thankful that night lol.

This one time when I was still new to taking buses, I took the wrong bus home and ended up a place at least an hour walking distance away from my home. I was soooo lost and was almost about to start crying (didn't have a phone then) when this elderly women came up to me and asked me if I needed any help. Usually I don't talk to strangers because I'm terrified of what they might do but she seemed so kind and I was desperate to find a way home so I told her my situation and she offered to take me on the right bus and stay with me until I was able to get off at my own stop. She was so kind and even payed for a new ticket for me.

1. A few minutes after meeting up with my ex-boyfriend to officially end things, I walked into a coffee shop to meet up with my bestfriends and I guess one of the waitresses could tell by my tear-filled eyes that my heart had just been ripped out and stomped on, so she placed a hand on my shoulder and asked if there was anything she could do, bring me any sweets or whatever on the house. It was really touching that she even cared.

2. I was having lunch with a friend the other day and a guy about our age was the cashier, he looked me straight in the eye the whole time I was telling him my order and then left to get the food. When he came back and I took out my wallet, he smiled and said: "It's on me". I don't know, it wasn't a big deal like some of the amazing stuff I've read in this thread but it was one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me at least. mellow.gif

Oh, and of course I can't forget the time when I posted a topic in the L&R-section here on soompi and people left me such touching messages. I just couldn't believe the kindness of some soompiers, really taking the time and making an effort in writing encouraging replies to a complete stranger. It made me feel alot better.

I had 20 bucks in an envelope with a letter from the library. I gave it to my sister to hold onto it but she ended up dropping it. A few days later, a letter came to me in the mail with my money. the stranger wrote on the envelope that she/he found it near the library and send it to the address in the letter. =) I still kept the letter. =)

Was in line for Tim Hortons and when I went to order, they told me they didn't accept debit and I had no money. This random guy from behind me just gave me $5 to buy my stuff...Anyways, he was too kind and I left without taking his money lol.

I don't know if this counts because he wasn't exactly a stranger but still, we JUST met that day (he was my cousin's friend). I lost one of my flip flops because it fell off as we were riding a roller coaster. I started complaining and whining like an idiot about how I didn't want my foot to get dirty and I couldn't walk around with one flip flop like a moron so he bought me brand name flip flops for $30 right away.

I was like.....WOW. That was really nice. I will never forget it.

I had to pick up my sister as I was waiting for her it was raining really hard outside and I was just in a sweater. This women saw me and quickly to get under the umbrella she was holding. I thought that was nice to share her umbrella with me biggrin.gif

Another time was when I was at a Chinese mall and there was this mini carousel that you put like $2 in and it goes. I didn't have money so I just pushed the thing round and round while my sister was on it. This couple saw us and gave me a toonie to use for the carousel so I didn't have to push it.

2 incidents which are in my mind for long time now... cuz it was in 1st year of highschool so now I'm out lol graduated....THANK GOD.
but....

1. When I was outside of my building, walking in the parking lot... *sigh* my bag opened and there was harsh and strooong strrong wind. It blew all my papers n homework completely all around the parking lot and half into the street. I was surprised I actually got alot of papers that came out of my lil bag... but anyways a group of gangsterish looking guys, like REALLY gangsterish; they had the bandana(its not a bandana but this du---something), the gruffed facial reaction like they found fresh meat, and the hardcore thug walk. They started picking it all up, and there was alot!! they told be just stand by the railling cuz since we are in the parking lot and they didnt want me to get hurt 0.0 it shocked me they actually said that...but yea it took them almost 10min to pick it all up and they hand it back to me with a sweet smile.
random: God these guys looked like the buff black dude in the White Chicks! They were so nice I was shocked! but seriously wudn't you feel the same like wanting to run away or piss in ur pants/skirt but ended up listening to them and actually waiting? there was 7 of these guys and me back then is a lil 4'11 schoolgirl.. that says FRSH MEATTY YALLL! lol srry for that explanation

2nd Incident:
I was pushed down the stairs..cuz some girls were playfighting behind me and they hit my back so I fell. But while I fell a cute guy grabbed my hand to prevent me from falling but he failed...he fell too. luckily jus 4steps but we both fell and he shud get angry since it was my fault for making him fall but he smiled and had the cute embarrasssed look and asked me if I was ok. He helped me up and walked me to the office and to class because I had a scratched knee and his finger was bleeding... <--korean drama moment....I wish lol i never saw this guy again after this. Starting to wonder if I hit my head hard

I went to Austin and I went to visit my friend. Well, we went to HEB and I was chatting on the phone to my sister. I put my phone down but I didn't realize it at the time. As we were about to walk out, I realized I lost my phone. I talked to the manager and they said they'd look for it and would give me a call. The thing is, I don't live in Austin so even if they were to find it, it'd take forever for me to get it back. The cellphone I had at the time was a sidekick, I had just bought it a few weeks and paid $350. I was freaking out bc anyone could pawn this phone. The manager said she could announce it over the PA system but it just means someone might start trying to look for the phone and keep it to themselves. Well, I figure I have nothing to lose. It's already gone, it couldn't get any worse, so I tell her to go ahead and announce it. I swear, like less than one minute after the announcement, a cashier calls over the manager. It turns out someone had turned in the cellphone!! I was thrilled.

I went out of town to San Antonio with my parents & my sister to visit my brother before he was going to Afghanistan. Well, I have a dog that I had insisted on bringing and I even begged my brother to keep it on base so I don't have to pay a fee to keep it at the hotel. He was like yeah, that's fine.. well my parents disagreed and decided to leave the dog at home. they place the leash on collar of the dog and stuck it under a table. they left the door open a crack so the dog can go out to pee. well, guess what? we came back the next night around 10pm and the dog was GONE. I cried and I couldn't stop thinking horrible thoughts. I kept blaming my parents saying I should have taken him & now he's stolen. My dad had a genius idea to phone the police to report a missing dog. I was like who does that but whatever, I'll try. Police transferred me to animal control & since it was so late at night, all I could do was leave a message. I cried that night missing my dog. The next day when I woke up, I saw a missed call from Animal Control but no message... in fact I had to listen to 20 messages to find out there was no message from them. I called back, no one picked up and left another message saying I had a missed call & etc. They returned my call an HOUR later, saying they might have my dog and that japanese chins are really rare. I drove over and lemme just say, I got lost. the place is so hard to find! she asked me where I lived and I said woodstream. she said she went through that neighborhood and found the dog in dewpoint which is a street in my subdivision. it was my dog! apparently the dog had escaped and followed a little girl home. the mom tied the dog to the front porch and called animal control.

=) those are my 2 stories

oh and one time, i bought a book from halfprice. i found like 3-4 crisp $20 in the book. it was amazing.

QUOTE (agnuque @ Sep 2 2009, 06:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's funny how strangers do so much nice things for other people, even more than my friends would. Hahaha. Nicest thing a stranger ever did for me? Smiled at me and told me that everything will be alright when he saw me sitting on the bench with my face in my hands. It was a really bad day, and I looked like sht. He went up to me, pat me on the back and said, "I know this is weird and you might think I'm a pervert or anything, but I want to tell you that whatever it is that's bothering you, I hope you can forget about it and smile. I think you look better that way." He smiled at me and left me speechless.

It kinda makes you think that maybe he was feeling the same way.

Oh how that made my day.

that's honestly a nice person. a little weird, i suppose but still nice.

my bf & i bought tickets to a concert last minute so our general admission seats were to stand. we got there fairly early and was close enough to the stage. the opening bands were pretty rowdy so they got the mosh pits going. this family (seriously, the whole family was there: dad, mom, 3 sons) that stood next to my bf & i pretty much saved me from being pushed away from my bf. eventually, the family got pushed away from us so we had no coverage. kids started crowd surfing over us so i told my bf that we should move to the back where the calmer people were. so we made our way to the back when i didn't realize i walked into a mosh pit. 2 guys pushed me pretty hard making me almost fall over until this girl & her bf caught me and helped me back to my feet and pulled me out of the way.
i was really thankful for the family and that couple because my bf & i would have been completely trampled and lost each other in the crowd.
