i don't know anything about cars, i'll admit that.

and i'm getting my first car pretty soon.
and my parents have a habit of showing off,
and getting their children the most expensive stuff,
even though it's unnecessary and unneeded.
especially since we can't even pay the bills.

so they go and decide to get me a $40k+ car for my FIRST car,
and their decision is a Lexus IS 350/250.

and basically..
what's good/bad about it?

is the mileage good? lol.. i tried to look up the difference between it and..
yeah. it didn't say anything much that was important.

----------
EDIT EDIT EDIT!!!!!!
june 4, 2009:

this is from last year. i already got a car.
but i didn't get the IS.

i ended up getting the new 328i coupe..
i like it better than the IS.

and to everyone who doesn't have faith in me saying that i'll crash it .. i haven't yet, or gotten into any accidents or anything. i've had it since december.

wow i probably just jinxed myself..
..
omg im scared LOL

IS250 is a good choice; it's quick enough that you won't get run over, but it's not so quick that you will kill yourself (like the IS350 will). It will also not be too bad as far as insurance goes (the IS350 will be crazy expensive with insurance).

Unless you are rich though I would advise against buying a new car off the lot as your first car. Used cars are much more reasonable, as I'm sure you have heard the saying that once you drive a new car off of the lot it loses ~20% of its value. That saying is true.

You could try to find a used IS250, or maybe even a used IS300 (Altezza). They look better anyway imo tongue.gif (also much cheaper).

Anyway, congrats on your license and whatever you end up getting smile.gif

Well at least you admit to getting a new car handed to your lap. If your parents want to show off by getting their kid a nice lux car, the IS250 is a good choice. It handles well, not too bad on gas, and it is built on Toyota quality. People would recommend a car like a Civic or Corolla, but it wouldn't be "showing off" if that is what you need, although a fully loaded Accord or Camry might work.

^ LOL. You ride MY bike. >;[

Thanks on everyone's opinions, I'll get a 250 then. I don't wanna die, and if my parents feel like being stupid and show off and get an expensive car when they can't afford it then at least I can get cheaper insurance.

I'm not sure I want a USED car though, that carfax thing scared me. Plus I have a thing against using used things.

IS250AWD has all wheel drive . this is good to have if you live somewhere it snows alot or has inclimate weather.
RWD is just the rear wheels powering your vehicle.

on a lot of car forums, if you mention your first car being worth anything more than $20k and funded by your parents, there tend to be a lot of belittling posts about how spoiled you are. guess that isn't the case here... :]

EDIT: New question... what's the difference between 250AWD and RWD

If it's in your price range then yes, it's a good car to get, very luxurious and quick. It doesn't really matter what first car you get, as everyone will tell you, as long as you drive it responsibly and not do stupid things.

I'm not sure on the exact mileage of the car but I'm guessing somewhere in the 16-20 range. It'll be expensive also if something goes wrong, but treat it good and it'll treat you good, and nab you a lot of dates.

The difference between the 250AWD and the RWD is that the 250AWD is an All Wheel Drive vehicle, just look it up on Google or somebody will probably tell you about it later in this thread. The RWD is like other cars where power goes to the rear wheels, instead of all of them, hence Rear Wheel Drive.

You're lucky to have such generous and trusting parents. laugh.gif

1. its not your money. if you are interested in the M3, then go buy one.
2. your constant whining and *****ing of what is a girl's car is getting old and annoying, just like an immature annoying girl.
3. at least post something of worth to the thread, instead of people reading your stupid psycho babble.

haah i think he's trying to say that the gender of a car is decided based on the opposite sex of the owner
if it's a guy, the car is a girl
vice versa
