lately i've been feeling tired and haven't been able to keep up energy during my workouts. it's caused me to cut my workouts short, and keep me from making progress in weight training. i've been thinking it may be due to not eating enough, but i do get int 4 meals a day + a protein shake as a snack. i generally eat lean meats and multi-grain and veggies. the most unhealthy thing i probably ate the last couple weeks is a really late night burrito. i get 6~8 hours of sleep daily, averaging 7+ hours.

i'm wondering if i just need to deload or just stop working out for a week, or if there might be something else causing this fatigue. summers coming up and i'd really hate to stop progress, but i feel that i'll get nowhere until i figure out this fatigue issue. it's not like im super tired. but i feel too weak to work out. i can keep up with intensity for maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of my workout, but after that i'm totally deflated.

if any of you guys have some ideas or clues, feel free to drop a note.

it could be hormonal. im assuming that youre a guy but as a girl my energy level just drops 5 folds when its about 3-5days before my period and i have to cut my work out down or just not work out at all but after my period, im all good.

IME, you should listen to your body. if you are feeling tired lately then give your body a rest. you might need it more than you think.

Maybe you aren't eating enough carbohydrates
And don't work out too hard everyday, if that's what you're doing
Glycogen in the muscle is broken down during exercise and replenished at rest but a whole week probably isn't necessary.
Maybe not enough liquids in this hot weather
Maybe just mentally tired

Sounds like you just aren't getting enough fuel in or enough rest. You said you are averaging 7 hours of sleep but try for consistency of 7 (hopefully 8) if possible. You'll find even if you are meeting your diet requirements, without enough sleep your whole day can be a drain. Other than that I'd recommend taking some sort of energy drink pre workout.

Taking a few days off might not be a bad idea. As long as you continue to eat healthy your gains will not drop for a certain amount of time.

i usually go hard 5 out of 7 days. i do weights 3~4 days out of the week, and uphill/tabata sprints twice a week. and basketball once a week. that makes it about 6 days of exercise a week.

you might be onto something with liquids though. i'll try drinking more water.

in the meantime, i'll cool down for a couple days and see how i feel.

Ask your self these questions:
Do you have sharp pain, I don't mean the normal dull low level pain? If you do, it'll indicates you haven't fully recovered and you may seek medical.
Have you introduced anything new into you workout or consumed anything new or taken anything out of your diet since you started feeling fatigue? You never know your body might not be adapting without or with something new.
Do you think it's caused by lactic acid accumulating with the muscles? Sometimes lactic acid builds up with muscle where blood vessels are block or damage making it unable to reach the liver. Massages and stretching may help shift the acids and increase blood flow.

Maybe you should give your liver and kidney a break from protein shakes, they probably cause unnecessary protein deanimation. If I were you I'll check my heart rate and if it's 30% above normal I'll take the day off, above 20% but under 30% I'll do light aerobics and stretching such as yoga. If that doesn't work take a week off and see how it goes.

Remember stopping is very different from quitting, only you could decide whether you quit or stop, you could always continue after stopping =) Stopping exercises for a week may even give the body enough time and rest to produce enough growth hormones for a growth spur.
Anyways I wish you the best of luck

OH I remembered in science class, I was writing stuff down and then all of a sudden, I couldn't pick up my pen. Like it felt there are no more blood and I freaked out cause it was like the first time which happened to me. It took me twenty minutes just return back to normal.
