It depends on the subject. For math, I would prefer to have the answers beforehand (meaning the hw would not necessarily be a grade), because I use math hw as practice. This applies to physics and chemistry. As for other hw, I don't really care or mind it.

the workload! also i think it's sad that many students think of homework as a chore to improve grades instead of an aid to understand concepts. so many students resort to copying. less assignments and more pop quizzes in class (to make sure students understand concepts) is so much better imo

I would actually teach what we have to do for homework. My physics teacher gives me homework without teaching the material and it is a pain in the butt.
